Re: 7-Zip Theme Manager

Here's a modified version that supposedly does not require .NET anymore and updated compatibility with latest 7zip. Not tested. https://github.com/Wilenty/7-Zip-Theme- ... ersion-2.1

Re: Paint.NET

After checking it, I realized the portable 64-bit package for v4.3 at Github doesn't contain any ' paintdotnet.exe.config ' file; as the file is how you achieve portability, I'm unsure if this was a mistake or if the dev expects people to do it manually... :o It has ' PaintDotNet.Configuration.json...

Re: UXTheme... and shady online pages

I haven't used a custom visual style ever since UxStyle stopped being developed and Win10 added a proper dark theme. Windows 10 dark theme finally just looks like how I've been changing my theme for WinXP and Win7/8 for years. it only took almost 20 years... As far as I know, there's two custom vist...

Re: Picture Viewers for Very Large Graphic Files

I tried Irfanview and it successfully opened the 17.6 GB image faster than XNViewMP. It used up the same amount of memory of about 40 GB. However, it navigated the image noticeably quicker. Faster at zooming in and out BUT it crashed soon after. So at the expense of stability it seems Irfanview is q...

Re: Picture Viewers for Very Large Graphic Files

Interesting. That sample large image opens and zooms in fine for me in Faststone Image Viewer. No crashes and uses up about 2.6GB memory. Also opens up with no problems in XnViewMP using about 2.5GB memory. Not primarily an image viewer but Paint.NET opens it and allows for editing. Paint.NET uses a...

Re: Hashing use cases (why would I want to hash my files?)

As for the overclocking safety measures, I guess you'll probably be interested in a fully Open Source consumer grade PowerPC workstation that comes equipped with ECC RAM by default (brace yourself for the price tag!): Anyone with a Ryzen machine can most likely just drop in some DDR4 Unbu...

Re: Hashing use cases (why would I want to hash my files?)

I've been seeing lots things related to checksums/hashes lately. I'm getting the case of Baader–Meinhof phenomenon or frequency illusion. This techspot article was posted today https://www.techspot.com/article/2199-what-is-checksum/ Which made me remember a registry context menu tweak https://www.te...

Re: Firefox Portable

There's still ways to tweak Firefox even with the removal of XUL. UserChromeJS scripts can still be used to tweak such things like restart menus and buttons, bring back old password manager, and old about:config menu, and even bring back fully functioning pre-quantum DownThemAll extension. https://w...

tried putting "config.json" file in app folder but it doesn't seem to make portable mode work. No other documentation on how to make it work beside the commit history https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/co ... 46c4f6993b

Re: DS4Windows (gaming controller utility)

That version has been abandoned. This fork is the currently maintained one and has added much more functionality including DualSense PS5 controller support: https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows The application GUI itself may be portable but it requires installation of drivers to actually function ...

does the fork need mpc-hc64.ini or mpc-hc.ini to be portable?
thanks
The INI filename needs to be the same as the executable filename. So if your rename it to mpc.exe then you will need it to be mpc.ini as well.
