www.avedesk.org has a great application that is an engine for desktop widgets! Pretty sure you can configure it to run portably by changing a line in the file settings_overrides

Freeciv is a great open source civilization clone, should be portable. www.freeciv.org

don't know if it is *really* portable or not so check it out

has anyone found a sync utility that can sync open files as they change ? this would be a very useful I currently use allway sync for all of my backup needs but it is to able to handle live sync of files.
