Ah well, so be it ... caveat emptor.
This seems to have been a longstanding hazard with OpenOffice and then LibreOffice.

Re: Portable version of Unison 2.40.16

I cannot speak on behalf of anybody, but it's useful for me. I prefer to use the installer and edit the bootstrap.ini file for three reasons: 1) Using the installer, I have complete control over the components that I need and those I do not need to install (that is something that can't be achieved ...

Re: Portable version of Unison 2.40.16

With LibreOffice 3.6, try with: [ErrorReport] ErrorReportPort=80 ErrorReportServer= [Bootstrap] InstallMode=<installmode> ProductKey=LibreOffice 3.6 UserInstallation=$ORIGIN/../settings ("settings" or the name of your choice). A "user" subfolder will be created inside "settings" with your configura...

Re: Portable version of Unison 2.40.16

It definitively looks better. By the way, I still use your great tip to store LibreOffice's settings in the application folder. Why did you remove it? Thank you! I removed the tip for LibreOffice because I couldn't get it working, for some unexplained reason, with versions 3.5.x (using the Portable...

Portable Unison

I've made a portable package of Unison 2.40.16 available for download from here.
Please let me know if I've overlooked anything.

edit: Subject amended to include LibreOffice since discussion has strayed away from Unison

Re: Have another look at Password Gorilla v1.5.x

Just found out that Gorilla has a commandline option:
--rc configfile : Use as configuration file (not the Registry)
so no need for a wrapper batch file after all, and this makes Gorilla truly portable.

Re: Have another look at Password Gorilla v1.5.x

In my batch file, use the following command instead to allow for the path containing spaces: start "" "%~dp0gorilla.exe" That should fix it for you. (Have also amended the data...

Re: Have another look at Password Gorilla v1.5.x

Tried to make a go of the batch file, but I tried to run it from my desktop and it gave me an error "windows cannot find 'c:\Documents'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again." Anyone know a way around this? Oh and I verified the program is still saving settings to the user folder. 1...

Re: Have another look at Password Gorilla v1.5.x

This may be the case, but how did you get the settings to save portably? I looked at this recently and couldn't find anything and PA seems satisfied with KeePass: http://portableapps.com/node/13709 Please look at the script in my comment timed '2012-01-18 15:27' at the link above. As for KeePass, i...

Have another look at Password Gorilla v1.5.x

I've realized that Password Gorilla v1.5.x is much more useful - open-source, secure, cross-platform, and can be made portable - than I'd thought. I'd overlooked the program since v1.4.x was the last obviously portable version. I've added some comments to its database entry at http://www.portablefre...

Seems very useful to me too

I would agree that this is a very useful program, even more than SQLiteSpy. It is cross-platform, and has only a single executable for Linux too.
Though I'm rarely using Windows these days, RegShot suggests that this program is "registry hygienic".

Rant of a minimalist (rather OT)

I hope you will not get stuck into Linux only - XP is still quite alive too 8) Ahem, confession time for a minimalist: I was really a Win 2000 man, and only have to use Win XP at work under duress! The extra bloat of XP for a tiny amount of dubiously improved function over 2000 never convinced me, ...

DLLs maybe the problem?

zikarus, Sorry about the nuisance with Pocket K-Meleon 1.1 not running occasionally on some systems. However, try copying MSVCP71.DLL and MSVCR71.DLL into the K-Meleon program folder (or newer versions of them) and see if it works. That solved the problems which I had on some Win XP+SP2 machines. Al...

@FlightGeek

Did you install it via the method I described or did you run the downloaded .exe file?

Using the Universal Extractor method did not register the .trl extension on my system (Win 2000).
