Re: Is the "testing portability" FAQ up to date?

Great work. 8)

I particularly appreciate the following formulation:
Commercial developers can have an advertising budget and resources available to them to help get their name out. They don't need help the way freeware developers do.

Re: Is the "testing portability" FAQ up to date?

Well, I've always felt what's really missing is "What makes an application portable?", and not just what makes an application "stealth". This question should explain what does it take to to qualify an application in the database in the first place. Then "What is the process for getting an applicati...

I wish they'd just open source the Presto engine, so able developers could take a go at updating it... *sigh*

Re: Pointofix - [Screen Capture] Annotator

Is there any program which I can use to notice wether a program writes to the Registry or not when used? Myself, I use Primo (https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8164), which is a fork of Regshot . But, as systems and OSes can vary a great deal, I advise you to have a look at ht...

Re: Pointofix - [Screen Capture] Annotator

Hi and welcome to the TPFC forums. :) Unfortunately Pointofix doesn't fit our definition of portable software, mainly because it saves its settings to the system registry -- have a look at ' HKCU\Software\Amerigomedia\Pointofix '. Although the author supplies a ZIP package for download (currently ' ...

Re: Console

@ webfork : I think rbon observations pertain only to ConsoleZ . I haven't tested ConsoleZ and have only been posting update notices in order to signal that there is still some kind of development -- the last release of upstream Console ( 2 ) that is present in our database dates back from 2011.

editor2 (lightweight text editor)

Zabkat's (https://www.zabkat.com/) editor2 has been mentioned a few times here at TPFC forums but has no single topic really fit to post news and updates. Well, that ends now. The closest thing I have found to a dedicated homepage is this 2010 blog post containing some portability workaround (that, ...
