Re: Arachnophilia (with Java Portable Launcher)

Holy cow! This really brings back memories.

I remember using the Windows version in the really early days in one of my first jobs. That was like.. 2004 or something, I can't even recall.

Re: Adware model: background market research

That's interesting.. not sure if any other software does it without being explicit (Windows telemetry, anyone?), but this is the first time I come across a software that lays it bare like this. Maybe in the future a software will explicitly state that it will perform crypto-mining when you are using...

Re: ReviewMeta - site that free check false reviews on Amazon

I have this site bookmarked for a few years now, and have used it before making purchases of items that are 1) above a certain value, and 2) unbranded Chinese stuff. You'd be surprised at how many of the reviews are fake. I hear it's common business tactics to pollute the reviews using dubious pract...

In light of the new info, I am moving this thread to submissions.

I would love to give this a go one of these days when time permits.

Re: PlainEdit - text editor

PlainEdit web page is down, and I cannot find another source for v2.2.

Internet Archive does not have it, and the last capture page in Sep 2019 says development has stopped for the software.

Re: mRemoteNG

I have added mRemoteNG to the database. Please vote. https://www.portablefreeware.com/postadd.php?id=3059 Compared to Terminals , which is already in the database, the more recent release of mRemoteNG is newer (2019 versus 2017). It supports SSH2, which Terminals does not. The UI is also less glitch...

Re: MultiDesk - remote desktop client

I was looking for a multi-tab RDP client, and MultiDesk seems to fit the bill. Unfortunately, the free version is only offered for v3.16, which was released in 2015. To use the latest v8.0, you need to make a donation (how much is not specified), after which you will received a username/password to ...

Lastly, the database posting engine appears to be mangling URLs -- e.g., by inserting extraneous HTML entities such as '&' instead of literal "&"...
Noted. Will manually patched up the comment, and fix the code eventually. Thanks!

Update: I have fixed the error that mangles the URL.

This is very weird, as I can't reproduce it now.

So is there no way to just view by release date?
Nope.

Re: Issues with Newer/Popular first

I'd just change it to "last released" i.e. the most recently released software. If someone edits an app from 2008, it shouldn't be first. No, most recently edited is what we want. Sometimes we do add a new entry that is released in eg. 2019, and we want that to be listed first. Don't click "back", ...

Re: New cateogry: System - Temperature/Fans

Will you add to the FAQ? My apologies. I missed the quesiton. I don't think this belongs to the FAQ because only a small group of regulars ever perform database updates. Best to leave such info to the forum. As for small resolutions, it possible to add subcategories like "System - Fan - HD? No, thi...
