Re: Windows 9 is... Windows 10

Actually, even with Windows 10, with each new major release, they are making it more and more obvious _they_ own the software; you don't own anything. From the random manner in which they update/reboot the PC for you, From initially obfuscating the creation of a local user account to now _requiring_...

My favorite comment from the thread: "I just don't get it. Not using Electron, no Angular, not using any latest web technologies, not cloud-native, no social network features... WTF was this guy thinking? /s" (note that /s means sarcasm)
Haha! I like this a lot

Re: AuthPass - Keepass compatible open source password manager

Interesting idea, usually the password strength evaluator tries to discourage dictionary words. Out of curiosity, what is the main advantage? Easier to type/rember by hand? If the password is long enough, and seeded with numbers/symbols, I think it is as strong as any other password. The main advan...

Re: AuthPass - Keepass compatible open source password manager

I have voted, and I hope others will as well. The app is indeed portable, no doubt about it. I have tried both the Windows and Android version. Here are my comments. First the pros. I like: - the uniform user interface across the platforms - the ability to scale the UI (density, text size) dynamical...

Thanks for posting this.

I use KeePass (mainline 2.x) on Windows and Android (KeePass2Android) myself, so I am definitely keen to check this out.

Re: OpenShot - Video Editor

Just to confirm, it is not natively portable, but made portable via PortableApps, right?

Personally, I have tried both and I prefer Shotcut.

But it is a pretty capable video editor, and I will vote for it if it's added to the database.

Enhancements to edit screen

I have backported the autocomplete tag editor (from the CLI test site) to the edit screen, so now main category and additional category are edited using the new editor, which I very much prefer.

The autocomplete function for the title field has similarly been backported.

Re: Linux Sucks 2021

I seriously doubt Fuchsia will unseat Linux on Android, not in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Fuchsia is an insurance for Google. There are simply too many advantages to go with Linux, a lot of features that you can just adopt and use. Attempting to go in-house with every one ...

I was contacted by author of MP3 Quality Modifier and EasyTimer earlier, informing me his programs have a new home. As a result, I have updated both entries. Dear Andrew, I'm the developer of MP3 Quality Modifier (see https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1521) ...Someone has (rightfully) changed the...

Re: RawTherapee [photo editor]

First, a little rant. I believe there are _so_ many gems in the forum that don't make it to the database. 'cos every time I come looking, I _always_ find something that screams "WTF is this not in the database yet?" :D Anyhooow, I have added RawTherapee to the database: https://www.portablefreeware....

Re: USB Repair

@rbon: Do you think you could add this to the database so that we can vote it public? I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but I don't have any personal experience with this tool yet, so might not be the best person to describe the tool (if I do it, I will probably just cut-and-paste the author's descri...
