Re: FreewareMatter: All about freewares and opensource softwares

I just re-designed my site. Hope this satisfy you :)

@Zach Thibeau: Of course, there's no sharewares. I keep the content with only freewares and open source softwares.
@-.-: I just categorize them by features, maybe the portable section will create soon.

Oh, I don't understand here. Clean / Stealth means that when run on another machine it doesn't leave own files / registry entries. and N++ only writes its settings to its folder. So that can N++ doesn't leave anything on other computer, but why it is not accepted as a stealthy app? Maybe I don't und...

Maybe there's a mistake here, N++ is described as a stealthy app. Miranda is too with some note. I like this: PF.com doesn't have official one, but the most commonly accepted (and applied when adding entries to the database) is: -Works when moved with USB device to another computer, even if drive le...

PAF can also lock users into a single-source upgrade path. When developers release a new version, I don’t want to wait (or beg) for someone to PAF it. I have the same opinion for this. I often have to wait for new portable version from them, and feel uncomfortable, I feel that I'm depending on them...

All PA.com programs may use the same installer, but it doesn't mean that "PAF" and installer are the same thing, they are not. PAF is abbreviation of "PortableApps.com Format" . Thanks for the good link! That's all I want to know about this format "PAF" :D. @linuxx, m^2, MiDoJo: I think PA.com do a...

Thank you so much. So that the PAF just is a package that PA.com makes, it likes a launcher, zipper and something to extract files into a folder of portable programs. So can I do the similar work to make a program portable? Do you know other ways to do this?

What type of apps at portableapps.com?

Hi everybody. I'm sure that all of you know what portableapps.com is! It's so famous that their type of portable apps stand a "non-official" standard for portable apps. I say that because I see some freewares like FreeCommander makes a version call "portable version type .PAF". That is what I want t...
