Re: .NET Applications

As to getting Mono working on Windows, its a non-simple procedure and outside of my expertise. If someone reading this can make some headway on that, I welcome it. Agreed, but once you get over all the fluff in a portable applications sense what it comes down to is one folder containing the Mono bi...

Re: .NET Applications

Hey, who are you calling a fake programmer ? ;) I do all my coding in C# (both server and client, for work, for study and for fun) and I very much consider it "real" programming, just as, say, C++ is (which was the previous language I wrote in). I also consider it powerful for most if not...

Re: .NET Applications

I'm pretty sure that if there were unmanaged C# libraries, the development time would be exactly the same. The operative word here "if". I did research it prior to commencing development, and for what the .NET framework gave me versus other free offerings like Qt or wxWidgets, .NET...

@ M@tty - Just curious, is that Matty or Motty? I'm asking because it seems Israelis are always pro .NET for some reason  Haha, it's Matthew but most call me Matty. And I'm very much English... I'm a fan of .NET because it cuts development time down to a fraction. Recently for my final year th...

Re: .NET Applications

It's pretty late so this reply will be brief (not in a rude manner). Create a software that will contain portable dot net libraries! Have you tried Mono? Seems to fit the bill for what you're referring to. Encourage Microsoft to open up the program to a less restrictive license. Check out http://en....

I have to disagree, about 3.5 I agree but .NET Framework 2.0 is shipped as part of Windows XP SP3.

Re: Ethereal

It should be noted that the portable Ethereal does not require administrator settings as it does not install a capture driver on the machine then uninstall it after closing, like I believe the 'portable' Wireshark does.

Re: NirSoft - New for 2010

Since you felt the need to post merely to correct guiness, I feel I should refer you to the Wikipedia entry: "Although any period of ten years is a decade, the term usually refers to a period of ten calendar years whose digits are equal up to the tens digit, and whose last digit runs from 0 to ...

Re: DAA2ISO

So if the application had a GUI of some kind you wouldn't be against the application? If the application had a proper GUI then it wouldn't be a console application and therefore my previous point would be void. I have no issue with the functionality of this piece of software, and my problem is not ...

Hi guinness, because of the useful element I thought it deserved a chance in the database. This is where I disagree, but I'm not sure what stance Andrew Lee would take. Based on what the FAQ says ("command-line apps are pretty much always portable, so there is not much point listing them")...

Re: DAA2ISO

Should this really have been added? It is a command-line application. Although it can be used without command-line switches, I hardly think popping up an Open Files dialog constitutes a GUI.

Re: Editing function implemented

I'm not sure but I think as a result of this change (as I don't remember there ever being a problem before) a slight bug has crept in. When using the search function on the homepage, if more than 5 results are returned the "Page: 1 2 etc" links do not contain the search term (the ?q= eleme...
