Re: Microsoft buying Github

Wise words, my dear webfork . As the saying goes, "life isn't black and white, it comes in all (16?) shades of grey" Thanks. I hope that's the right path. The Net Neutrality Repeal Is Official I spent a lot of time and energy on this so obviously this is not a good moment for me. The only solace I ...

Re: EtherPad Lite for Windows

So this program is still in development and is very encouraging. It supports a lot of formats, doesn't have the problems I'm having with Google services, and just looks good . The Timeslider function is outstanding. v. 1.6.6 - https://github.com/ether/etherpad-lite/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md License:...

Just a note that the developer updated the program to v2.4 back in October and has a listing on the site about functionality via USB devices.

Re: Microsoft Planning to Buy GitHub

So did you delete your account yet? I see part of my work in freeware and open source as supporting developers even if I don't agree with them and there are a lot of developers on Github who have no intention of leaving. As a result, I feel stuck between an option where I see gloom and doom on the ...

Yahoo Messenger will be discontinued - Official Announcement Say Goodbye to Yahoo Messenger as It Will Be Discontinued on July 17, 2018 - Softpedia News My guess is that after the acquisition, they looked at things that were making money and things that weren't, and the Messenger probably wasn't so...

BilderHerunterlader is robust and fast, so fast that I had problems capturing screens.

BRIM - messaging and collaboration.

Synopsis : BRIM is an all-in-one productivity tool that looks like a more than adequate replacement for the batch of different Slack copies available lately. There are some amazing built-in tools here including screen recording, task management, draw/whiteboard, file sharing, and video chat and scr...

LosslessCut - no re-encode video cutting

A very simple, cross-platform program for cutting a variety of video types. The program isn't super intuitive. Watching the animated GIF on the website is helpful, but definitely read the "Typical workflow" bit. Although it took me some time to figure out how to use it, but it's dead-simple and very...

Re: MoonGlow Software goes freeware

Once upon a time I was a business owner so, even though I don't know Moonglow specifically, I feel his frustration. I know how much it stings when you have to walk away from a huge amount of time, effort, and energy. I'm glad he took the various options a freeware route rather than just closing up s...

Please vote for it if you like it. Thanks! So first I appreciate your work on the program, your availability to making your program portable, and the fact that you're listening to users here on the site. However, I just want to ask about something that's come up at least 10x here on the site: progr...

Re: EncryptPad - Minimalist secure text editor and binary encryptor (Open PGP format)

Good post, thanks. I'm a little confused why the author went with GPG for encryption but didn't include at least the option for public key encryption. A nice replacement for GPG4USB. You acknowledge it's not stealth, but do you know if it's portable or not? You posted this under discussion so I'm no...

Re: TrueCrypt - volume encryption

Very interesting stuff and good to know. A lot of cloud service free offerings have been more and more generous with file size limits so you can post a larger and larger encrypted volume. However, if the sync is even a few bits off for whatever reason (e.g. I think BitTorrent sync doesn't upload unt...
