Re: MiTeC Task Manager DeLuxe

We can wait a week or two to see if someone has the last portable and after that the people who would need to downvote include: Old thread update: I found another option that unfortunately disables saving any settings between sessions, but does make the program portable. Basically adding TMX.ini to...

Re: How to pull text out of a PDF and have it wrap correctly

The Xpdf project also includes a PDF text extractor, PDF-to-PostScript converter, and various other utilities. Very interesting, thanks for that. Reminds me very much of pdf2htmlEX . Sorry if I missed the point .... but if I had to pull out some text from a pdf, I would open that pdf with Sumatra T...

Re: Do you know an app that deletes files/folder on a list?

Does anybody know of an app that do this? it will be a bonus if it can delete files on the network like \\Network-PC\files\delete.me I personally would go with lintalist 's idea, but I also wanted to point out how BleachBit has a "custom folders" item under Edit - Preferences - Custom tab https://i...

In my opinion, he should be quickly accepted to The Portable Freeware Collection. As noted in the FAQ , you're welcome to add it to the database, but it probably won't get my vote. I found it to be a cool program but I was frustrated that some fairly standard editor features were under the "delux" ...

Re: Multi app download

I want the utilities directory but don't want to take time to manually download each individual file. Welcome to the site and it's a good idea. Unfortunately as a catalog site rather than a hosting site, we don't have that kind of functionality. I have a few ideas about how something like that coul...

More optimized than fraps? Are you talking about fraps.com? Fraps (derived from frames per second) is a benchmarking, screen capture and screen recording utility for Windows developed by Beepa. It can capture from software that uses DirectX and OpenGL, such as PC games. Fraps is no longer in develo...

How to pull text out of a PDF and have it wrap correctly

This process uses the CuteMarkEd program, which is not currently here on the site but is probably portable as it's hosted by PortableApps. In the screen below, I've already copied some legal text from a random PDF file online and I've setup CuteMarkEd above and LibreOffice (with paragraph markings) ...

Hope this helps others having the same problem... No, it's really good to hear that. I had a similar problem with an Android some time ago but just didn't feel like pulling the trigger on a separate, high capacity, high speed memory addition. That was the obvious fix but I just insisted there was a...

So 99% of my time on the site has been programs that do something useful, which was divergent from the site's history, which involved quite a few games and things like a "useless fun" category. I don't know if that was good for the site generally, but so much of my work on portablefreeware has been ...

A few months back I went looking for a good freeware vector editor, so this is great to see. Initial testing on this program was positive, with even basic operations feeling intuitive and useful. I'm sad that the Corel acquisition means that it'll go commercial or, at minimum, some form of freemium....

Re: Firefox Portable

I'd like to say that Firefox is just reacting to the current state of computing where to squeeze every last bit of performance out of an application, you need multiple processes and lots of RAM cache. I'm not close enough to machine development to say for sure on that one. I will say I haven't seen ...
