Re: Attaching a USB drive in sandbox
Found an interesting and useful way to quickly modify the Windows Sandbox settings. Because of context menu options, it's unlikely to be portable but still a great tweak for testing and security. Re: Photo Resizer Expert (4dots)
TLDR: 4dots has started including junkware along with their free downloads and aren't especially up front about it. --- So I came across a program from the 4dots group that included a note on Softpedia https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/Free-File-Unlocker.shtml about a "spare ...

Re: Kodak Imaging (Win95 and later)
Great post -- there is a TON of aging photo management software out there from commercial vendors like Kodak that I keep wanting to go back and explore. Some remarkably good tools that are just as useful now as then.

Re: Win11 not running on older PCs
My reply here is mostly echoing the linked Reg article but I guess it's worth repeating. That's very unfortunate and I'm sorry to see it. Whatever happens there's going to be a lot of perfectly good hardware thrown out a lot sooner than was necessary. I recall back with XP they really wanted to catc...

Re: SnipSVG - Screenshots in SVG Format for Windows and Mac
It's worth noting that the program takes standard image screenshots, and it's the addendums that are in SVG format, which you can zoom to any level and modify with an SVG editor. I'll admit I was a little disappointed that it wasn't something akin to this Firefox add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en...

yTimer - multi-alarm
Sometime back I got a multiple timer program for my tablet device and seemed to find some new use for it every month or so. Here's a simple and clear method for maintaining not just a few but LOTS of timers: http://www.spacejock.com/yTimer2.html https://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Office...

DiffView - filesystem monitor
I already have a solution to this I'm pretty happy with but there's a file and system change analysis tool "DiffView" that just came out with a portable version, with some exciting specifics in their latest release: Changelog: https://www.adlice.com/docs/diffview/release-notes/changelog/ D...

Re: dnGrep - non-indexing power search
I've had the opportunity to test dnGrep again recently and I'm super impressed. The Script Editor looks *insanely* cool: https://github.com/dnGrep/dnGrep/wiki/Scripting%20Commands I was going to complain about the lack of support for the ODT format (LibreOffice) where I do everything, but in digging...

Archifiltre file analysis
Impressive file analysis tool along the lines of WinDirStat but open source. It don't know for sure if the entire interface has been translated so there may be some French language bits. Homepage under Google translate: https://archifiltre-fr.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_h...

Re: Multiple Search Replace
If you haven't tried it I recommend giving BK ReplacEm a spin, looks a bit similar https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=95218#p95218 Portable and no traces in registry that I recall. Yeah that is really fantastic. It's the best parts of Renamer with those staged, sequential edit...
