Re: FenrirFS - file organization / tagging

Most recent version: https://download.fenrir.co.jp/FenrirFS2 ... -setup.exe Thanks for that ... the version I tested about 1.5 yrs ago was 2.4.9 (the same version that Softpedia appears to be hosting) but what's up on their website is listed as 2.6.4. So evidently it's still in development. Sadly, ...

I would like to offer badge IDs to you and any member of this forum so all of you can experience the entire feature set for free. Strange as it may sound I actually go out of my way to do things with freeware to make sure that I can talk about it here on the forums. So no worries on the premium too...

NeoSearch - basic filename search

Synopsis : A dead-simple indexing filename search program (nothing for file internals). The program doesn't have a lot of options beyond just launching whatever program from the results window. Looking forward to more features, but do enjoy the simplicity. Not much to offer beyond many current sear...

Another issue with Mozilla VPN: it's still only available in eight countries at this point (USA, Canada, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Germany and France).
Agreed -- that's dramatically lower than multiple competing tools.

Re: is there a file manager that let me tag files and folder ?

Just saw one on Softpedia. Not quite a file manager, but does appear to handle tagging a bit better than some programs I've seen:

Re: UltraSearch

For searching inside content, I use SearchMyFiles. Results are not immediate, but the program is lightweight. Yeah now that I think about it, that might do the trick for what I'm looking for. Previously I was doing research on a huge file list so I was keen to find something indexed, but that's not...

MultiTextFinder - search file internals, including office files

Synopsis - Where many programs will let you search for a word or a phrase, this program lets you search for many terms (and phrases) in many different file types. In limited testing with different formats (docx, pdf, odt, txt), it seemed to work fine. Distributes a portable version in RAR format. Sc...

Recommended GoogleDocs workarounds/tweaks

Background A few months back I did a post about a pure Microsoft environment and some discussion about how to try and manage that. A lot of great stuff came out of that discussion and I was glad TPFC had ideas and suggestions. Amusingly, I now have an almost exclusively with NON-Microsoft products ...

Yeah, Regex is one of my areas of interest, so I will definitely keep expanding it as I find other common use cases. If you have anything in mind, just let me know and I will be happy to add it. Oh man, so many suggestions here. I could go on for days. * Processing acronyms, creating abbreviations ...

Re: VPN experiences so far (seeking recommendations)

After working with the program for many months, I'm posting an updated review for anyone following along. Still using the Mozilla VPN at this point but not averse to other options. Pros : Client software is easy to use and understand, allows local connections (e.g. your network printer). Company has...

Please loop us in if you find something for this. I also have a few uses for a file tagging program and have not had great luck with those I've tested.

Re: Visual Studio Code Portable - modern code editor

It doesn't appear to be widespread, but using caution with Visual Studio add-ons might be wise: https://www.itsecurityguru.org/2021/05/27/vscode-extension-vulnerabilities-could-lead-to-cyberattacks-on-the-supply-chain/ As I understand it, there currently is no vetting process for VSCode extensions. ...

I feel ridiculous I didn't mess with this sooner. I think I got put off because I don't have a numpad on my primary machine. But the window organization function with the CTRL+ALT+Numpad is fantastic: For example, I did this to my desktop in seconds: https://i.imgur.com/q3Dhn49.png If that's the ONL...
