tried extracting the Softpedia Installer version & no go. Did a search for "task tome portable" & got no results for a portable version. When I searched for "taskTome portable" I got a page full of results. Many download locations for portable version 1.53. I can't believe the syntax made that much of a difference.

Well, I found the portable version on the wayback machine. It is version 1.52, so not quite the final version that was released, but good enough :)

I also found the final windows installer version 1.53 :)

Sounds good, but v0.a082 hangs. Useless! :-(

elations on 2010-07-17 02:14

It hung for me too. Then I checked its compatibility/system requirements. Officially, it is only compatible with Win 2000/XP/2003 but, unfortunately, I'm stuck with Vista. Subsequentially, I set it to run as admin and with compatibility set to XP/SP2. This time, it started okay. Unfortunately, it still froze after a while :(

An embedded web browser would be great. I'm not talking about a full-powered browser like Firefox. Something like Thunderbrowse would suffice. Oh yeah, something like firefox extensions would be also great.

If you're the sort of user who likes to store all of their portable documents in a single location, such as F:\Docs (where F is just an arbitrary drive letter corresponding to your USB flash drive), and were hoping to store Total Organizer databases in a location such as F:\Docs\PIM\default.db, then this application is not for you.

In general, if you like to double click on files using a file manager such as Explorer, this application is not for you.

Most importantly, if you specify files using the command prompt by TYPING them in, this application is DEFINITELY not for you.

Total Organizer saves user databases under the user's Documents folder or the Application Folder (portable mode). Either way, let's just say that folder is %base%. If you want to access your documents, they will be located at %base%\My Total Organizer Documents\default\{2811-3294832947398374-39483947239}\SomeOtherSubfolder\TheActualDbFile.db

The point is, you're never going to be able to remember where the folder is located at, because it's nested 6 arbitrary levels deep, behind a GUID instead of a name, and NONE of this is user-configurable.

At one point I thought about reformatting my USB drive to NTFS so I could just make a hard link to the file or a symlink to the folder, but decided it was too much trouble.

either way to located in the following subfolder:

Best pim I have ever used! Easy use, easy backup. Makes organizing way less of a chore. Try this program for yourself and give it a chance.

very bad. One of the worse software I've used

Very interesting application when you take time to invest in it. Much more than Rainlendar although less fancy interface. Has also the import tools and is fully Unicode. Must be used by a large number of users, as it appears in 7 languages already. New search function quite usefull. Imports are possible from Excel. Extra features, such as the Money application, can be used to replace money or quicken in simple households. The music and film functions are quite handy. I'm positively surprised : it's much better than it seems at first hand.

Apparently not free: "We advise you that the downloaded file gives you the right to try the program for 30 days. If you want to use the program longer than the 30 days, you need to buy the license key with us. The downloaded program is fully functional, and contains all 8 languages"
