Very useful tool. I'd rather us WinMtr than this but this program does something WinMtr doesn't do, which is log to a file.

It should be noted that this refers to the GUI version of fat32format (i.e., guiformat.exe); the CLI tool fat32format is up to version 1.05 -- I mistook one for the other...

Wow did this work well! It's a no-brainer to use and did exactly what it said it would do. I tried to cram a huge 143MB file through the system yesterday and it kept choking and dying - after an hour of trying. I used GSplit and it went through in under five minutes for all of the smaller files. I tested re-assembly on my end and it was a no-brainer too.

Take a look at this duplicate finder tool to remove duplicates, from ashisoft.

Find Here : http://www.ashisoft.com

I never tried AudioComparer (the website screams spam/trojan)

Similarity is now portable according to its change log from 2010-01-19: Portable mode, all data stored in same folder with exe file, use "similarity.exe /portable"

I've gotten decent results with both Duplicate Music Files Finder and Similarity, but I prefer the latter.

Duplicate Finder software will be useful for you. It will help you find duplicate mp3, tracks, music files. Search by mp3 title – you can use this method when you want to get more disk space removing duplicate mp3 files. Free download and try.

The license leaves room for interpretation.
The author clarifies in the FAQ:
** Quote **
Q: The license of your software says that I only allowed to use it for personal and non-commercial use. What does it mean ? Can I use it in my work environment ?
A: When I say that my software is for "non-commercial use", I mean that you are not allowed to make profit from my software. You are allowed to freely use my software in your work environment for serving the internal needs of the company or for your own personal use. You can also offer my software to your customers, as long as you don't charge your customers for using my software, and as long as your customers know that my software is freeware and available to download from NirSoft Web site. Government agencies are also allowed to use my software without restrictions.

However, you are not allowed to:
* Include my software as a part of commercial software package.
* Charge your customer for a service provided by using my software. For example: You are not allowed to recover the password of your customer by using my password-recovery tools, and then charge your customer for password-recovery service.
** End quote **

Condensed:
It is freeware for private use AND use in a business environment, but it's not allowed to make profit out of it.

jamvaru on 2012-06-15 17:33

tried it on my portable hd (2tb)
it is ok, but the optimization is lacking; it does some, but not alot
in order to put the portable software first, i put everything else in an 'x' folder and ran the defrag sorting by file/folder...
...then, when the portable apps are in the first position i switched to fill.. but jkdefrag doesnt fill smartly at all, so i switched to mydefrag
... using monthly data defrag and then switching to consolidate i achieved better results... you can do a defrag only alternating with consolidate to get better results
... finally, for a portable hard drive, i recommend defrag only option, as a regular maintenance... in fact, use it as the screen saver, on defrag only, all drives

olliebean on 2018-07-16 09:09

This appears to be defunct. The portable version is no longer available to download from the website, and the website for the newer non-portable version no longer exists. v3.36 is still available from https://filehippo.com/download_mydefrag/4595/.

Stranded II v1.0.0.1

webfork on 2 Dec 2020
  • 25MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 12 Mar 2008
  • Suggested by Fluffy

Stranded 2 is an open-ended game about exploration and survival. Use just about anything you can find to build tools, shelter, weapons or even rafts. The more you do the more your skills grow, allowing you to do even more things or become more efficient at your current abilities. If you fish for most of your food you'll eventually learn to create special nets to automatically catch fish for you. If you harvest a great deal you'll learn how to plant herb gardens and eventually be able to plant new trees.

The game enables completely random islands or you can even generate your own. Note that there is also a story mode to introduce you to the game (Bonus points for being able to tame a Velociraptor and ride it around while being stoned out of your mind).

My mod is not completed yet as the majority of my time is spent writing my mod viewer (available from the stranded forums) but if you take the time to have a look at the mod viewer, you'll see why.

Again, many off the questions you guys have concerning gameplay are answered on the forums. You get the key for the locked crate when you progress in the adventure.

I know I keep banging on about the forums and I ain't even the creator,, but if it wasn't for the great community, I wouldn't have made my mod viewer.

Taskix lets you reorder buttons on the taskbar using drag-and-drop. Note that if "Group similar taskbar buttons" is set, you will be able to move a button inside the group or move the group as a whole, but not to move a button out of its group. If you open many windows so buttons end up stacked up on a single taskbar button, Taskix will also work inside the stacked button list.

Taskix seems to occasionally get windows confused for me. I've had a few windows which simply won't come to the top when I click on them - they stay behind the others. It's not necessarily taskix at fault (I have VirtuaWin running as well), but switching it off fixed the problem.

Kaleb on 2009-08-31 21:38

Uh... there are not any zip files to download.
So, how do I make it portable?

freakazoid on 2009-09-29 02:34

kaleb, the new version of Taskix uses the MSI install method.

v1.5 still exists on the Taskix server:

Pandora Recovery v1.4

webfork on 24 Aug 2014
  • 4MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

Pandora Recovery helps to recover permanently deleted files that cannot be found in the Recycle Bin. The program works with NTFS, NTFS5 and NTFS/EFS partitions. You can preview deleted files of certain type (images and text files) without performing recovery. A deep cluster scan mode is also available that is able to recover files whose MFT record has been overwritten, or when the file allocation table is missing or corrupted. In addition, Pandora Recovery supports recovery of archived, hidden, system, sparse, encrypted and compressed files, as well as ADS (Alternate Data Streams).

The program will ask you to fill up a survey upon exit when you run it for the first time, which you can skip by clicking the "Close" button.

Note: Latest version of this program is ad-supported and has not been tested for portability. A mirror for the 1.4 version has been contributed post in forums (thanks NickR).

Why do you post non-portable software on your website?

webfork on 2014-08-20 00:12

zylstra: Sometimes the developer makes changes to their program that aren't free or portable, which we of course don't have any control over. In the case of Pandora, we tried to find a mirror or host for the old version without success.
