Simple little program, but unfortunate doesn't support unicode, so if you have any files w/ foreign language or other special characters, they'll get cataloged as "?" for any unicode character.

This program is great. I can't believe Windows is now so convoluted that the basic out of the box search works so poorly.

I really like this simple program. I used it first to hide/disable a corrupted Magic ISO contextual menu in mere seconds. Then later on I learned about some features of Explorer that could be turned off using this program, so I did that. It worked both times without any problems. I like that you can undo the changes too if you like. Good program. Thanks for updating this.

rogerthedodger on 2013-06-01 00:37

Love this program, recently had the dreaded explorer crash and this program allowed me to easily identify the culprit, and a uninstall/reinstall of the offending (acronis) software fixed my issue. Would have spent an eternity without this software. Should be part of Windoze.

SuperF4 v1.4

billon on 18 Feb 2019
  • 37KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 16 Feb 2019
  • Suggested by I am Baas

SuperF4 allows users to kill the foreground program when the key combination Ctrl+Alt+F4 is pressed. This is different from programs that respond to Windows' normal "close" hotkey Alt+F4, which only asks the foreground program to exit. This is important because many programs don't cooperate with a close request due to a bug, nag screens, or other issues.

Additionally, you can also kill a process by pressing Win+F4 and then clicking the window you wish to kill with your mouse. This mode behaves like xkill for GNU/Linux, BSD etc.

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch SuperF4.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: Advanced Process Termination, ProcessKO, Task Killer
What's new? Released 1.4.
  • Fixed keyboard input lag. Thanks to Victor Robertson.
  • Do not enter xkill mode if Ctrl key is pressed. Ctrl+Win+F4 is a new shortcut to close virtual desktops, so we don’t want to prevent that. Thanks to José Rebelo.
  • Add a process blacklist, with explorer.exe in the list by default.

I apologize for my tardiness. I use Windows less and less every year, and I must confess that I have not even been running my own programs when I do. I hope this release makes up for it somewhat.

Spews v1.1.3

billon on 22 Jan 2019
  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 22 Jan 2019

Spews (Simple Process Excluding Wallpaper Switcher) is designed to automatically switch your wallpapers on a configurable schedule. You can add image folders, choose wallpaper options and check/uncheck the images paths as needed; only checked paths will be scanned for images.

The program will automatically suspend wallpaper switching if it detects any process names you configure in the Exclusions section. This can be beneficial, for instance, when running games that will be disrupted if the wallpaper is changed.

The word "Stealth" came into use recently in reference to the "stealth" airplanes the United States government started to use back in the 80's. As for these "stealth" airplanes they are in fact not invisible, what they show is a very small imprint in hopes to fool a radar operator into thinking that what they see is nothing to worry about. I suppose the fact of the matter is that there is no magic way to keep anything totally invisible on a computer. I for one can live with this free software calling itself "stealth" cuz that's what it looks like to me... Just sayin :) Thank you to the person for their hard work in bring me this free "stealth" software that does what it says.

ChordEase v1.0.14.000

billon on 23 Sep 2018

ChordEase makes it easier to play music with complicated chords. No matter what the chords are, you can play as if they were all in the key of C. You don't need to play sharps or flats, because ChordEase automatically adds them for you. Although ChordEase is primarily intended for jazz, it could be useful for any type of music that modulates frequently. ChordEase alters your notes in real time in order to make them harmonically correct, while preserving their rhythm and dynamics. By delegating rapid music theory calculations to ChordEase, you gain freedom to concentrate on other aspects of musical performance, such as feel and aesthetics.

The program is a translator that takes MIDI notes as input, and produces MIDI notes as output. The input notes are translated to the current chord scale, so that the output notes fit the chord progression of a song. Supports various mapping functions which determine how the translating is done, can handle multiple translations at once for multiple performers to play through a single instance using any number of MIDI instruments. Parameters can be remotely controlled via MIDI for additional effects and can also record its own output as MIDI data.

Hi Taf,

That "NO STEALTH" setting is because I created the database entry myself. I tried pretty hard to get it right but apparently not quite. What should it be?

MultiHasher v2.8.2

billon on 23 Apr 2018
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 29 Feb 2016
  • Suggested by guinness

MultiHasher is a drag-and-drop tool for creating and checking file hashes, useful for checking data integrity. The program will check files, folders and even text using a variety of methods with both pause and cancel options for large operations. The program can then compare digests to detect changes as well as query the result to the VirusTotal database. A search tool lets you quickly track down both files or specific hashes from long lists.

A recursive checking option (entire directory trees) is available in the options menu. The program can also use existing, standard hash files such as MHX, SFV, MD5Sum etc. to check integrity.

Supports 64-bit operating systems and available algorithms include from fastest to most secure: CRC32, MD5, RIPEMD-160, SHA 1, 256, 384 and 512. Can include one, some, or all algorithms available in testing.

it opens a browser for the VT results :(

PeStudio shows the results in its own GUI.

would be nice to have program like this that you enter a folder or partition of say all your portable apps and this program works slowly in the background at like 5% of CPU and checks all hashes against VT, option to upload those unknown, then stores to a small database and gives the option to recheck every so often against the hashes stored, etc. And option to select filetypes that dont need to be scanned. Would be a good security program.

Enternal on 2016-01-08 13:55

Two bugs to be aware of. The first bug is:
Make a new directory with some files in it. Drag the folder into MultiHasher and make MD5 hash calculations for all those files. Save the hash list in MultiHasher own hash format (mhx). Clear the list. Load the hash list. Drag the folder back into MultiHasher to "add" the folder. MultiHasher then hangs. Versions prior to 2.7.0.0 worked fine.

With 2.8.0.0+, a new major bug:
MultiHasher refuses to load mhx files that are over a certain size. From what I test so far, any mhx files that are larger than roughly 150 KB refuses to load when you drag and drop the mhx files into the MultiHasher window. Instead, MultiHasher will treat it as a regular file to be hashed rather than a list of hashes. If you tried to load the file manually (Ctrl+O), MultiHasher will do nothing for these files. Files that are less than 100 KB loads perfectly both ways.

Both bugs have been reported (1st bug about a year ago). However author never replied and even deleted the thread and my forum account. In other words, be aware of any potential new problems with new versions and always keep old versions.

These bugs does not occur if you use file formats other than their own mhx format.

Anyways, like Webfork, I now prefer RapidCRC Unicode over this. RapidCRC Unicode has been rock solid and all bugs that I have reported to the author were taken care of or were promptly responded to.
