Rapid Environment Editor (RapidEE) is an environment variables editor. It includes an easy to use GUI and replaces the small and inconvenient Windows edit box, located in the System Information section.

"Environment variables are specially named string aliases for basic system properties. They contain information such as drive, path, or file name. They control the behavior of various programs. For example, the TEMP environment variable specifies the location in which programs place temporary files." (source)

Previous question hasn't been addressed, so I'm foregoing RapidEE for now. I would really like to know if it addresses issues like the one reported here: http://sites.google.com/site/redmondlab/path

Midas, I've just been playing with this and ran into the problem you described. On investigation I realised that there are two type of environment variables: Text String and Expandable String. Text String variables (orange tag) will not expand contained references to other environment variables when they are used. Expandable String variables (blue tag) will expand their references when used. You can change their type by F6 or via the right-click menu. These two types seem to be a feature of how Windows now stores environment variables internally.

A few judicious type changes got my environment where I wanted it to be.

Thanks for that, Craunch. Vital info, IMHO. I'll look into it ASAP. :)

Both Nirsoft's TCPLogView and Sysinternals' TCPview offer about the same set of functionalities.

However, the alternative Sysinternals' TCPview might have a slight edge in its skilled use of color background for highlighting DYNAMIC TCP connections activities:

It feels nimbler at popping up a log line (on a green background) for each transient new active connections and at briefly flashing an existing log line (on red background) before its connection is torn down.

TCPLogView Version 1.15 released 19-MAR-2105:

Added 'Write To Log File' option. When it's turned on, all log lines are automatically written to TcpLogView.csv located in the same folder of TcpLogView.exe

ArsClip remembers the most recent clipboard entries and allows you to quickly paste one or multiple items into a program by pressing a hotkey (by default ctrl+shift+z). You can configure it to monitor both text and other data types, and lets you create permanent items that are always visible. There are also multiple ways for entering items into a program, including a "form mode" for pasting to multiple fields in one step (e.g. name, date, address, etc.).

I've used this heavily every day for several years. It's golden. Like most good software, there's a learning curve, but the flexibility and precision of this program rewards your effort.

hamasaki on 2013-04-24 07:33

Agree with Crid. Might have had some issues initially, but I use it regularly each day without issues. Its such a timesaver. And having the shortcut to pop up the menu is superb. Not seen any other clipboard utlities come close to this one.

hamasaki on 2013-07-29 12:41

I think Arsclip makes all other clipboard utilities redundant, its that good. Could have a better name though.

Hello Skwire,

Here is a list of bugs I encountered after a couple of minutes testing it:
-It doesn't always show app icon in about child GUI, I think your better of using static control and STM instead of picture control, less embarrassing.
-Use "UseErrorLevel" when running a link in case there is no default browser.
-Very slow startup.

webfork on 2013-05-05 20:50

Ganamyde: recommend posting that to forums (I just added an official forum thread to the entry). Also, I'd include which version of Windows you're using.
