May want to look at that Beta version first. I remember trying it once and went back to released version. Can't remember the details of why I decided to do that.

Thanks. Ok, two problems for me with the software.

1. There is no sound at all. No problems with all other players on my comp, but this one no sound at all.

2. If I add a folder of MP3 files it adds the files ok, but if I use the option to add a file, the interface flickers and does nothing. I try again, flickers, then after a few seconds crashes.

I`m on Win 10 64Bit.

v1.5.160 (2016-02-09) released !

tomcat on 2022-04-29 07:10

The software hasn’t been updated since Feb 2016, which may account for this attractive player not enjoying the popularity it deserves.
Sound quality is good.
The reason I chose it is because its default skin is elegant, functional and space-sparing, with large buttons and the playlist attached below the player without non-essential additions.
You can easily create playlists (drag-and-drop supported) and change the order of their contents to whatever you like. For portability, save the playlist M3U8 files in the player’s folder.
Memory usage is less than 10 MB, quite negligible for any modern system.
The player places a lot of emphasis on being skinnable, if the user takes the trouble, which I didn’t see the need for.
The hot keys are the player’s main weakness. The default ones are not user-friendly. You can assign your own, but as they (oddly) also have effect when the player is in the background, if you type on another app while listening to music, it may interfere.

Ant Renamer provides many options for the batch renaming of files and folders. The program includes the ability to change file extension, replace/insert/move strings, change case, even give files random names. The program can even rename based on date and time (great for scanned files) or using exif/mp3 tag info (making metadata the file name), or regular expressions. File renaming can be previewed before execution and changes can be added to a batch file and saved for future use.

Alternatively, Ant Renamer Portable (PortableApps.com Format, adjust drive letters and paths as you move PCs).

What's new?
  • Option (disabled by default) to consider the last "." in folder name as extension delimiter. Previous versions were always considering that a folder could have an extension, but that's commonly used.
  • When folders are renamed, the path of files in the list is updated if needed. Previous versions were giving an error as files contained by renamed folders were not found anymore.
  • "Case sensitive" option in the "Multiple string replace" action.
  • A few bugs fixed.

ripu on 2015-11-02 10:31

There is no way to rename using multiple methods/rules at the same time. You have to use one method at a time. Also, can't preview all the files and can't undo after closing the software. So, I prefer Advanced Renamer.

TAudioConverter 0.9.6 (0.9.6 Build 3774) has been just released.

BGM on 2014-08-22 14:50

Hey, if you all use the installer, be careful! It has some very subtle "other" stuff bundled in there. Make sure you read every panel. "Other" stuff includes "Search Protect" and "Trovi Search" which changes your search pages and home pages. PUSH SKIP. There is another one that tries to install (but I can't get it to do it after cancelling the installation once) and you have to push "disagree" in order not to install it.

Installer do not contain ads as of version 0.9.7.

AutoCompress v1.4.1.23

Andrew Lee on 13 Jul 2023
  • 65KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 30 May 2014
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

AutoCompress intelligently compresses/decompresses drive content based on whether the compression will actually save space. For example, JPG and MP3 already have built-in compression, while text and spreadsheets frequently reduce to 50% or less of their original size. The program can also compress based on age or size, scanning all folders recursively under the provided folder (by default c:\).

The program can also disable compression based on the reverse criteria: since files that are already compressed take more processor power to decompress twice, this program can speed up your computer.

This program requires an NTFS-formatted drive.

NOTE: Homepage is down, linking to Softpedia.

Category:
Runs on:WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7
Writes settings to: None
Dependencies: Only functional on NTFS-formatted media
Stealth: ? No. Writes incidental settings file to User>Local Settings>Application Data>SteelBytes as well as the app folder.
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch AutoCompress.exe.
