After 10 years of inactivity, now the developer is releasing a version after version, nice ;)

lintalist on 2015-10-05 22:48

I like(d) CLCL a lot, but on Windows 8/64bit it has a bug for me. I'd set it up to show 19 items in the menu so that the letter 't' is the shortcut for templates menu, unfortunately it doesn't properly register the hotkey of the CLCL program I think because when I press alt-t in any program it always pops up an empty template menu (from CLCL) which shouldn't happen because it not a global hotkey.
Good alternative I found was ArsClip - http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=734 - and set it up as CLCL as close a possible. Still like CLCL though.

zorro on 2019-12-16 05:06

Unfortunately the new version 2.10 is not stealth any more - it creates a folder "CLCL" with settings and history in AppData. I tried entering the program path for "WorkDir" in the "general.ini", but the folder is still created. Reverting to version 1.12...

QtWeb v3.8.5

billon on 4 Feb 2017
  • 8MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 9 Sep 2013
  • Suggested by I am Baas

QtWeb is a web browser focused on strong privacy and a clean environment. While running, no traces are left on the host machine while browsing and none are left behind after a browser "reset" in the privacy menu. All toolbars, including navigation bar, can be turned off or docked anywhere, and even moved outside the main browsing window. Includes built-in support for Torrent downloads and ad-blocking functionality can be easily enabled.

Based on Qt framework and Apple's WebKit rendering engine (also used by Apple Safari).

Security note: development of this browser appears to have stalled and the software may be subject to security vulnerabilities.

Not bad but can't work with Java.

ttttt11111 on 2013-09-17 17:14

I was worried that QtWeb was as dead as K-meleon. It hadn't been updated in more than a year. Thankfully, I was wrong.

QtWeb makes for a great secondary browser or portable browser, or even as a primary browser if you don't like bloatware. It's small and fits on a flash ram of at least 2GB, and contains all modern web technologies except java.

The lack of java isn't a problem for those who don't visit sites laden with that crap. It works with adobe flash, so youtube and other sites work fine.

The only downside to QtWeb is a lack of plugins or extensions. It would be nice to have an adblocker (especially for youtube) or other content blocker.

I adjusted the entry for the fact that Qt is now a publicly traded company, no longer owned by Digia. (Funnily enough, it's traded in Nasdaq Helsinki, of all stock exchanges...)

UPDATED TO 12.18!!!11
no changelog yet on off. page

Specular on 2016-02-16 07:31

@billon mmm, it's odd. Just had a pop-up informing of a new version to download which is apparently v12.18 yet no official changelog has been released.

However did find an old My Opera stalwart who posted some of the changes over on the Vivaldi forums. Will continue this discussion on the PF thread...

Windows Registry Recovery v2.2.0

Midas on 11 May 2020
  • 4MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 20 Aug 2019
  • Suggested by AlephX

Windows Registry Recovery allows to directly read files containing Windows registry hives and extract many useful information about the configuration and windows installation settings of the host machine.

Note that the program is not simply a registry editor: it works with other tools, including exported keys. It’s useful for seeing registry issues, sandboxing tools, and diagnostics. To your own computer's registry files, open a NTUSER.DAT system file but keep in mind that these are usually hidden by Windows to avoid accidental deletion.

Category:
Runs on: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Registry, if "Persistent layout" option is enabled (it'll be saved to 'HKCU\Software\MiTeC\Wrr').
Stealth: ? Yes. But only if no layout is saved; otherwise see "Writes settings to" above.
Unicode support: Yes
License: Free for personal use
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch WRR.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: RegistryViewer, RawReg
What's new?
  • XP bug fix.

I find it a good Program. Only one of its kind. You should know where your registry hives are.
