Great!

@NunoEFSilva: "How can all this fit in less than 1 mega?" These days, most of a program's heft is either a framework, like Java, Qt or Electron(cf. https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23425), or all the embedded media included to make the UI all singing and dancing...

I can recall an era when people competed to make the snazziest graphics and music fit into a 4KB "demo" -- usually built with assembly... :o

Not every laptop has a dedicated button to turn off the screen; if you're using a laptop with external mouse then you'll appreciate this proggie.
Anyway, it's simple - if you think it's stupid then don't use it.

Emka: updated.

I'm actually glad this situation came up as I'd forgotten all about this program and have the exact sort of setup tproli is talking about: a monitor situation without a simple off button. Saves a lot of time and energy.

Taskix lets you reorder buttons on the taskbar using drag-and-drop. Note that if "Group similar taskbar buttons" is set, you will be able to move a button inside the group or move the group as a whole, but not to move a button out of its group. If you open many windows so buttons end up stacked up on a single taskbar button, Taskix will also work inside the stacked button list.

Taskix seems to occasionally get windows confused for me. I've had a few windows which simply won't come to the top when I click on them - they stay behind the others. It's not necessarily taskix at fault (I have VirtuaWin running as well), but switching it off fixed the problem.

Kaleb on 2009-08-31 21:38

Uh... there are not any zip files to download.
So, how do I make it portable?

freakazoid on 2009-09-29 02:34

kaleb, the new version of Taskix uses the MSI install method.

v1.5 still exists on the Taskix server:

I wish this was open source, so that I could get it up to date with win7 and 64bit. I only got 0.1 alpha to work with, but that's a huge step away from 0.4...
Oh well, still one of my favorite screen capture apps.

"Update 0.4.0: Added support for Windows 98..."
This is even more archaic than MWSnap, which was released in 2002 and at least officially supports Windows XP.
