In case it does not remembers sort order, you have to edit 2 lines in Everything.ini:

This is a great program. I've found very helpful tracking down misplaced or seemingly lost files.

the correct portable method, according to emails with support is via post install menu, it omits "unneeded" files (but updater files weighting 2mb)

Support has no issue with UPX re-packaging, they note it "may impact performance/speed", but not function.

*mostly they were concerned that it be used "without removal of any files" copied by "USB Stick" menu tool copy process, as that DOES violate EULA.

The file vlcrc in the 'portable' folder has this entry :

VLC seems to accept relative paths (here at least). I have vlc_deepdark.vlt in the same directory as vlc.exe and it works OK.

Also with 3.0.0, no files/dirs left anywhere else. But creates a QT reg key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\QtProject\OrganizationDefaults\FileDialog

I run vlc from a NSIS exe which deletes that key after VLC exits.

..at least with "native skin" there's no QT-Key left behind - I just checked it. When activating alternative skins, the Key appears but can be handled with a batch or portable starter like gbrao mentioned.

"Download the ZIP-Package" in description is a bit misleading: fuzzing around with the scripted download-button, you won't find a ZIP. At least I didn't find it.
Simpler: select "our FTP archive" under "older versions" (lefthand, underneath the small slideshow) - there you also find the newest versions as ZIP.

I had a document with both text and pasted images. While Acrobat Pro kept complaining there was rendered text and wouldn't OCR the available images, PDFXChange got right to it.

The OCR language files for English, Spanish, French, German, Czech, and Finnish now are already in the "Tesseract" folder of the portable zip package, and there is no longer an OCRBaseLangPack.zip download on the OCR language page. The are other languages there, but six mentioned here are already in the base product.
