According to Softpedia, which rates it with 4 stars, current Types version is v2.1.6.10711, but I couldn't find a changelog anywhere, or any program info for that matter (see http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Types.shtml).

Softpedia also indicates DotNET requirement is v2.0, but the framework pointed to by the program site (see ahead) is v3.5. As user Tertius noted above, the new Types site address is http://izt.name/apps/types/ -- the old page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/types/ is now mostly blank...

@Peter202: You will have to take a look at each program documentation (help files, wiki pages, even forums).

Where can i find list of the command parameters that can be used when creating association? I am talking about parameter like this "%1" which is used with the Open action.

Thanks! ExtMan is a good program.

I also found this program SMARegisTry Backup which allows you to backup easy registry keys that stores file associations: http://smartregistry.tk/

@Peter202: have a look at WAssociate (http://wstudios.home.xs4all.nl/Associate/)...

Quoting from WAssociate online help "Backup" topic: "Find the speed button for starting RegEdit RegEdit and click on it. You can backup your registry by exporting" the relevant key/value...

NirSoft's FileTypesMan (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1478) could also be of interest.

Is this still portable? The .exe file can't be extracted.

I can confirm this works for Windows 8 x64. Been looking for something to replace the lacking functionality once found in XP's folder actions tab.
