Typhoon 2001 is a remake of the classic Atari Jaguar game, Tempest 2000, which is in itself a remake of the classic game Tempest. This remake, however, is loaded with plenty of graphic bells and whistles as well as a great soundtrack.

The links are still dead as of Sept. 2013.

It can be found on other sites, but the may have added spyware to it, as cnet does. Does anyone have a link to an untainted original?

Great game! Tempest was my all-time favorite when I was a kid. I used to love getting up to the invisible levels, playing for like 1/2 hour on a single quarter :P (not like today's arcade games where it's like a dollar a minute...)

Can anyone suggest though a controller for this game, though? I can't deal with the mouse-- this game needs a full 360 "paddle" like the original game to really play it properly. Just not the same otherwise. Anybody know of something like this that would connect to the computer? (and would the game recognize it?)
I might have to try the author....
In any case he did a great job capturing the feel of the original!

This is an awesome game! Really brings back memories of playing Tempest at the ice cream store when I was a kid.
