New at NirSoft

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

RegistryChangesView is a tool for Windows that allows you to take a snapshot of Windows Registry and later compare it with another Registry snapshots, with the current Registry or with Registry files stored in a shadow copy created by Windows. When comparing 2 Registry snapshots, you can see the exact changes made in the Registry between the 2 snapshots, and optionally export the Registry changes into a standard .reg file of RegEdit.

Examples for useful things you can do with this tool
  • You can create a Registry snapshot before installing a new software and then after the installation is completed, compare this Registry snapshot with the current Registry and see all Registry changes made by the installer (Be aware that you'll also see some changes made by Windows or other programs in the same time). If there are Registry changes that you don't like, you can generate a .reg file to revert back the changes.
  • If you make a change in Windows configuration from the GUI of Windows and you want to see how to make this change in the Registry, simply create a Registry snapshot before making the config change and then after the configuration change, compare this Registry snapshot with the current Registry and optionally generate a .reg file that makes this configuration change.
  • If there is unwanted change in the Registry of your system but you don't have any previous snapshot, you can compare the current Registry with a shadow copy created by Windows and try to locate the unwanted Registry changes.
  • You can also use this tool as a simple way to backup the Registry. The snapshot created by RegistryChangesView simply contains Registry hive files with the same name as the original one (ntuser.dat, SYSTEM, SOFTWARE, and so on...)
This would be very useful tool to use along side Sandboxie, comparing a clean RegHive to one after using Sandboxie, so see what's written, but I can't seem to get this program to pick the RegHive files up... Can anyone get this to work?

If the Nir Developer sees this you should allow for Draging and Droping of RegHive files onto RegistryChangesView for comparisons.

@Special

You might have better luck in attracting Nir's attention by mailing your useful suggestions directly to nirsofer@yahoo.com
(trust me, been there... ;-) )

While you're at it, it might be worth suggesting some RegShot like funcionality -- i.e., a straightforward before and after comparison triggered at user discretion...

TimeZonesView

https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/time_zones_view.html
TimeZonesView is a simple tool for Windows that displays all world time zones. For every time zone, the following information is displayed: name, description, current date/time in this time zone and date/time that daylight saving time begins and ends.

System Requirements

This utility works on any versions of Windows, starting from Windows XP and up to Windows 10. Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported. Be aware that in order to display accurate time information, the current time and time zone on your system must be correct (Including the settings of daylight saving time). Also, the time zone information is taken from the following Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones. So the information on this Registry key must be correct too.

With the recent introduction of a new option :
"Choose another font (name and size) to display in the main window"
,
Nir Sofer is polishing his utilities with a nice touch of font display alternative.

No doubt this new option, recently spotted in WinLogOnView and CurrPorts ,
will later percolate into more of Nirsoft's indispensable tools collection.

In the same spirit as the above post, another new "generic" option:
  • "Added 'Quick Filter' feature (View -> Use Quick Filter or Ctrl+Q).
When it's turned on, you can type a string in the text-box added under the toolbar
and <the program> will instantly filter the actions list, showing only lines that contain the string you typed."
This new "Quick Filter" option, which is slowly propagating to many Nirsoft utilities,
has been recently included in the versions listed hereunder:
