Angry IP Scanner v2.21

__philippe on 25 Jan 2021
  • 108KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 8 Apr 2004
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

Angry IP Scanner is a fast IP scanner that can ping a range of IP addresses to check if they are alive, then optionally resolve hostnames, scan ports, etc. The program is useful for network administrators to monitor and manage their networks.

Note: Current versions of this program require Java. Until this is tested as portable, we are linking to the previous non-Java version.

Category:
Runs on:Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Windows registry. But given the nature of the application, I think it can be accepted as portable. An option is provided to delete registry entries upon user's request.
License: GNU GPLv2
How to extract: Download IPscan221.EXE to a folder of your choice and launch.

@Craunch

One more reason to use the older legacy version instead, which, afaik, does not need Java.

Craunch: just added a note to the entry.

__philippe on 2016-01-30 17:10

As illustrated in the forum http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=78597
AdvancedIPscanner is NOT portable.

Besides, the package contains no less than 45 distinct files, including umpteen dll's, for a bloated total of 8.8MB, versus AngryIPscanner single 108KB *.exe.

Take you pick...;-)

CurrPorts v2.77

Andrew Lee on 13 Dec 2023
  • 130KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 12 Dec 2023
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

CurrPorts displays the list of all currently opened networking ports on your local computer. For each TCP/IP and UDP port in the list, information about the process that opened the port is displayed, including the process name, full path of the process, version information of the process (product name, file description and so on), the time that the process was created and the user that created it.

In addition, CurrPorts allows you to close unwanted TCP connections, kill the process that opened the ports and save the TCP/UDP ports information to HTML file, XML file, or to tab-delimited text file. The program will automatically mark with pink suspicious ports owned by unidentified applications (applications without version information and icons).

I like this program. I recently used it to notice some suspicious looking port activities. I was able to close the ports down and then turn them to stealth using my firewall program. Then I used this program again and everything has looked normal ever since then. So I think this program may have helped me to stop some hackers or malware. All of my own internet activities and programs work normally so I really do think this program helped me stop something bad from happening.

Further to my previous comment, it seems that the download links are still working; my problem was that Zippyshare is now blocked in the UK for some reason. (Seems to be blocked by Zippyshare itself rather than by my ISP.) I managed to download from the given links via a VPN.

NetWorx v5.5.5

billon on 28 Jun 2017
  • 14MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 20 Sep 2016
  • Suggested by wolssiloa

SoftPerfect NetWorx helps collect bandwidth usage data and measure the speed of your Internet or any other network connection. NetWorx can help you identify possible sources of network problems, ensure that you do not exceed the bandwidth limits specified by your ISP, or track down suspicious network activity characteristic of malicious programs/hacks.

The program allows you to monitor all your network connections or a specific network connection (such as Ethernet or PPP) only. The incoming and outgoing traffic is represented on a line chart and logged to a file, so that you can always view statistics about your daily, weekly and monthly bandwidth usage and dialup duration. Reports can be exported to a variety of formats, such as HTML, MS Word and Excel, for further analysis.

A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).

Note: this project has gone commercial. Linking to the last available freeware version.

CountryTraceRoute helps to diagnose the path and delay of information across the internet. The program is similar to the command-line tracert but much faster. After the traceroute is completed, you can select all items (Ctrl+A) and then save them into csv/tab-delimited/html/xml file with 'Save Selected Items' option (Ctrl+S) or copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl+C) and then paste the result into Excel or other spreadsheet application.

AHA ! CountryTraceroute v1.30 released 30MAY2019

CT finally provides pertinent ASN information, (useful to identify Network Carrier per IP hop),
as presaged by the recent introduction of ASN data in IPinfoOffline v1.50.

Happy conclusion to a looong quest for a coveted feature (began JUNE 2013)...;-)
https://tinyurl.com/y2re454h

Caveat:
Loading the optional Maxmind Geolite2 ASN*.CSV file alone takes about 10 sec(under XP)
or 5 sec(under Win7). Loading all the Geolite2 *.CSV files takes about 28 sec (XP)

Loading time might be considerably reduced in future versions by querying the equivalent Maxmind Geolite2 compiled binaries instead of *.CSV

...Fingers crossed...;-)
