FastCopy v5.7.3 Updated

Ennovy on 17 Mar 2024
  • 705KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 17 Mar 2024
  • Suggested by pplknownothin

FastCopy is a file copy and synchronization tool with a variety of available extras. It uses different strategies (multi-threading, buffering) to help ensure maximum device throughput, as well as optional verification to make sure data is transferred correctly. It does not use the system cache, so other processes do not get bogged down during the copy process and a speed setting is also available, including pause. It supports Unix-style include/exclude wildcards filters.

Alternatively, PortableApps.com packages the last open source version as FastCopy Portable.

@tman version 3.6.3 works fine for me ;)

Version 5 license change: "It is only available for free use by individuals (non-profit) within the household."
Some features are only available in the Pro version

olliebean on 2023-05-06 05:47

Re: the license change, it looks like no previously free features have been removed from the free version, and there are some improvements - so still worth updating if only for private use.

TeraCopy v3.17

Ennovy on 3 Dec 2023
  • 13MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Dec 2023
  • Suggested by AntBond

TeraCopy lets you copy or move files at the maximum possible speed. It uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times, as well as asynchronous copy to speed up file transfers between two physical hard drives. When an error is encountered during copying/moving, TeraCopy will automatically retry and skip the files that cannot be transferred instead of aborting the entire operation. It also shows failed file transfers and lets you recopy only problem files.

Once the destination directory is selected, files can be dragged-and-dropped onto the window, even while a transfer is in progress. Once files are transferred, the Verify option uses a hash check to see if files are identical.

Note that a Pro version of the program is available with additional features.

Runs on:Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder: Options.ini and main.db
Stealth: ? No. Creates some files in the user folder.

How to extract:
  • Download the installer and run teracopy.exe /extract from the command prompt to extract the files from the installer.
  • Copy all files to a folder of your choice.
  • Optionally delete TeraCopyService.exe.
  • Make sure an empty file called Portable is present (without the .txt extension; this should have been automatically created by the /extract command).

Am I wrong or is there is no "Portable version" available anymore with Release v3.9?

Andrew Lee on 2022-01-02 18:53

A ZIP version is available for v3.8.5, but not for v3.9. And Universal Extractor is unable to extract files from the installer. So I suspect the only way is to install, copy then uninstall for v3.9.

You can run "teracopy.exe /extract" to get the contents of the installer without installing.

Copy Handler v1.46

billon on 25 Dec 2020
  • 26MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 25 Dec 2020
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

Copy Handler improves on Windows' tools for copying or moving files and folders. It improves speed, provides full control (pause, resume, restart, etc) and tasks are added to a queue to limit the maximum number of active tasks at any one time. Transfers can be filtered by file type, size, date, etc. and active transfers give statistics. The program is ideal for the frequent transfer of large files or for unreliable connections.

A 64-bit version is included.

Category:
Runs on:WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder: ch.xml
Stealth: ? No
License: GNU GPLv2
How to extract: Download the "Portable version" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch ch.exe or ch64.exe (for 64-bit OS).

Note that the program will prompt you to integrate with system copy operations, but this isn't required for use. Right-click on the taskbar icon and choose Enter copy parameters to manually setup copy or move operations.

Copy Handler 1.40alpha-svn465 released!

webfork on 2016-04-06 22:27

I found this program to be very confusing. Strongly recommend SuperCopier or TeraCopy over this.

smaragdus on 2016-04-07 03:51

@webfork
You may have a look at WinMend File Copy - http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2137 which is also very easy to use.
