SuperF4 v1.4

billon on 18 Feb 2019
  • 37KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 16 Feb 2019
  • Suggested by I am Baas

SuperF4 allows users to kill the foreground program when the key combination Ctrl+Alt+F4 is pressed. This is different from programs that respond to Windows' normal "close" hotkey Alt+F4, which only asks the foreground program to exit. This is important because many programs don't cooperate with a close request due to a bug, nag screens, or other issues.

Additionally, you can also kill a process by pressing Win+F4 and then clicking the window you wish to kill with your mouse. This mode behaves like xkill for GNU/Linux, BSD etc.

Category:

Stealth: ? Yes

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch SuperF4.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: Advanced Process Termination, ProcessKO, Task Killer
What's new? Released 1.4.
  • Fixed keyboard input lag. Thanks to Victor Robertson.
  • Do not enter xkill mode if Ctrl key is pressed. Ctrl+Win+F4 is a new shortcut to close virtual desktops, so we don’t want to prevent that. Thanks to José Rebelo.
  • Add a process blacklist, with explorer.exe in the list by default.

I apologize for my tardiness. I use Windows less and less every year, and I must confess that I have not even been running my own programs when I do. I hope this release makes up for it somewhat.

THG Task Assignment Manager v1.0

THG Task Assignment Manager is an invaluable utility for anyone with a multi-processor or multi-core computer. It allows you to increase the speed of your computer by configuring certain tasks to individual processors. Known as "affinity," this will save your program settings and maintain profiles of them in the future. This has many benefits including:

  • Keeping one program from using all your system resources
  • Increasing speed to two or more programs that aren't optimized for multi-processor systems
  • Helping run some games that require a correct affinity setting to run properly
Note: The program has to be configured and then actively running for processor affinity to work; it does not function automatically.

Svchost Process Analyzer lists all svchost instances and checks the services they contain. Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for Windows services that run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). The authentic svchost.exe is located in C:\Windows\System32, but numerous viruses and trojans use the same file and process name to hide their activities. Svchost Process Analyzer makes it easy to uncover Svchost worms like the infamous Conficker worm.

Annoyingly, SysInternals' powers-that-be no longer deem worth their while to provide a changelog of their recent releases.

Current cases in point: ProcessMonitor v3.30, AutoRuns v13.62,

Sloppy version control management, if you ask me...:-(

On a positive point, they resumed adjusting correctly the internal PE tags version numbering of their updated utilities, which proved rather baffling for a while

(see smaragdus' related post:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=82073#p82073

Regrettably, some of SysInternals' recently updated tools now fail to run under WinXP......:-(
(e.g. Procmon v3.30 fails under winXP, despite the "Process Monitor runs on Windows XP SP2"
plain statement found in the Procmon.chm HTML help file)

Cases in point:
ProcessMonitor fails as of v3.30 (blue screen crash, last XP working version v3.20)
SigCheck fails as of v2.40 (last XP working version v2.30)

MIKLO on 2016-08-29 18:10

@ __philippe do you know is there gonna be any effort made to correct this? I'm kinda surprised cuz I have always thought of SysInternals as being a first rate top notch entity, but they are not showing that in this case.Even if the changelogs are only interesting or necessary to a few people in my opinion that reason enough to continue with accurate data.
