Both Nirsoft's TCPLogView and Sysinternals' TCPview offer about the same set of functionalities.

However, the alternative Sysinternals' TCPview might have a slight edge in its skilled use of color background for highlighting DYNAMIC TCP connections activities:

It feels nimbler at popping up a log line (on a green background) for each transient new active connections and at briefly flashing an existing log line (on red background) before its connection is torn down.

In spite of the adware issues, I think this is the easiest-to-use and to setup CPU temperature application. It's on all my PCs and I've never had a problem with it. Just set it and forget it. why doesn't the author put all the .wav files in a subfolder?

gerrymartin on 2021-11-08 09:25

This software protects and monitors changes to your registry and system files on Windows. It has saved me lots of time and effort with foistware and other unwanted system changes made by certain programs. It offers a registry backup facility which backs up your entire registry every 28 days and retains the last 15 copies. This has also saved me when I rather over-zealously tried to remove GotoMyPC from my computer. In terms of resource usage and intrusiveness, you will barely notice it's there, especially once you have exempted certain alerts from coming up after your initial deployment. Excellent and well recommended.

I can see where it could be used as a malicious program, but I'm betting this is a false positive. You'll have to make your antivirus program ignore it to use it, I suppose. Just wanted everybody who downloads this know about it...

Tintenkiller on 2010-09-08 09:15

Sadly, that's pretty common nowadays.

A lot of Nirsofts great tools are labeled als hacking software by numerous AntiVirus Apps (e.g. Trend Micro). Thus trying to block them. It's always a pain in the ass.

But not much you can do about it.

It's not really a false positive either - since those tools ARE sort of hacking tools. But the tools themselves do nothing harmful per se.

KeyCounter (no2) v2.00

KeyCounter is a user activity monitor that keeps track of keystrokes and mouse movement. By counting the number of keystrokes you make every minute, it builds a history of your effort on a given machine. For example, if you start a new document in Word and type "Hello", that's six keypresses. Once for each of the letters, and one for pressing "shift" to make the "H" a capital.

You can then gauge user activity by seeing when activity begins and ends, and show when you were most busy. Times of inactivity are shown on a graph, such as when you were making coffee or gone for lunch.

The program will watch activity in any application, not merely characters typed, useful for activity that involves lots of false stops and starts; Keycounter lets you see how much work you've done, not just what you finished.

Note: note that the user has deleted mention of this program from his website; linking to archive.org.

The utility displays up to 200 indicators, each showing data from a single system performance counter. Recent counter values can be also shown as graphs. The monitor also displays the most active processes in system in descending CPU activity order. System counter names and their last values are shown when hovering mouse cursor over the indicators.

I'm on Windows7 Home Premium.
I love 'glint' i can keep an eye on what program or routine is (a)using my CPU time, (b)what's possibly reading/writing to my hard drive and (c)lots of other things that i don't really understand but are probably very useful to someone.

Top Marks for this one.
