PhraseExpress is a keyboard macro utility that manages all your frequently used text phrases from a taskbar icon and allows you to paste them into any application with a single mouse click, a keyboard shortcut, or a text macro command. The program is ideal for email reply templates, signatures, addresses and any other information that you find yourself typing repeatedly.

PhraseExpress also includes powerful macro functions to launch programs, files or email messages, offers support for dynamic macro commands and comes with a unique text-prediction feature.

Scribus is a desktop-publishing tool similar to Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Publisher. It supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation. Includes support for a wide variety of file types via import filters, rendering of markup languages and XML file format. Other features include PDF Import, EPS import/export, Unicode text including right to left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Scribus is cross-platform and open source.

Scribus Portable is PortableApps.com version of the program. Alternatively, X-Scribus is also available.

Softi FreeOCR is an image-to-text program using the Tesseract Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. It supports multi-page TIFF images and import of documents via TWAIN scanners. Scanned text can be saved as ASCII text files.

Note: Images must have high detail (around 300 dpi) to recognize text reliably. Additionally, the application has been discontinued and website taken offline, so we have made it available for direct download.

Lintalist is a context-sensitive text expander with abbreviations, shortcuts, plugins, and scripts. It allows you to store and (incrementally) search and edit texts in bundles and paste a selected text in your active program. Entered text can be interactive, such as automatically inserting the current time and date, requesting (basic) user input, or making a selection from a list, as well as running a script.

The program supports keyboard shortcuts or abbreviations to paste the text (or run a script) without opening the search window, and allows images and formatted text, including HTML, markdown, and RTF.

A 64-bit version is also available. Written in AutoHotkey

Beeftext is a text substitution tool that automates the entry of frequently-used text, functional in any application that supports copy/paste. Text automation is achieved via "combos," or a text snippet substituted via a user defined keyword that serves as a trigger for the snippet. These combos can be organized into groups or individually disabled.

Additional features include playing a sound on execution, automatic backup, export and import, pause, tray control and more.

AutoText offers in a small tooltip window saved words, texts, phrases, snippets etc. during typing in any other program and will insert the selected item directly to the cursor position. In case of unsuccessful search, Space, Return, PgUp, PgDn etc. closes the small window, so that fast and liquid typing is not disturbed. Three different search methods can be set.

In addition AutoText monitors the clipboard and saves the last X text entries of the clipboard, which can then be retrieved as well.

tinySpell allows you to easily and quickly check and correct the spelling in any Windows application. It watches your typing on the fly and alerts you whenever it detects a misspelled word. The program can also check the spelling of text that you copy to the clipboard.

TextWorx lets you access a large suite of text manipulation functions within any text editor or browser. It provides a universal context menu and custom toolbar/s that you invoke with a hotkey. To use, select the text that you wish to manipulate, then open the context menu and select the function that you wish to run the selected text against.

The things you can do includes: insert various date formats, change case to various different formats, delete duplicate lines, HTML tags, multiple regex search-and-replace etc. Note that you can easily add your own functions by editing a INI file, so it can be fully customized to your own needs.

Textreme is a tool for "text remodelling", allowing you to change text and modify its appearance by delete blanks or moving/insert words. Great for updating text files with lots of minor changes that would be manually tedious, the program offers a variety of string-based functions (deleting sections, inserting into a specific place, switching bits around, etc.) for text files.

There are currently nine different actions that can be performed in various ways, and actions can be cascaded in so that many changes can be made in a single pass.

Tip: Use "TextEditor="dummy\..\..\PathToYourEditor.exe" to specify an editor with relative path in Textreme.ini.

TEBookConverter is an easy to use ebook converter built using calibre. The program has simple conversion interface rather than calibre's ebook management suite and elaborate feature-set. You can convert ebooks quickly and easily using parallel processing.

Presets for several devices (Kindle, Nook etc) are available.

Supported input formats include cbz, cbr, cbc, chm, djvu, docx, epub, fb2, html, htmlz, lit, lrf, mobi, odt, pdf, prc, pdb, pml, rb, rtf, snb, tcr, txt, txtz. Supported output formats are azw3, epub, fb2, oeb, lit, lrf, mobi, htmlz, pdb, pml, rb, pdf, rtf, snb, tcr, txt, txtz.

Gwennel is a lightweight word processor that takes an innovative approach to formatting options by separating them into a tree-like structure. This is useful for handling long documents with clear, organized formatting tools or for users who wish to focus on the text first and formatting second. Any style changes (such as headings, lists, or colors) are propagated throughout the entire document and, although only able to open and save OpenDocument (.odt) files, this makes the program a capable WYSIWYG editor. Additionally, users can open existing files and make rapid changes to the entire document.

Chopping List will split the content of text files into multiple new files based on a user-provided delimiter.

Yadabyte Subtext is a text-substitution app that saves you time and keystrokes on frequently used words, phrases and text. For example, entering a text selection and pressing space/enter will instantly substitute your address into the current application.

For example:

• "DNA" to automatically expand to Deoxyribonucleic acid
• "Aaddress" (misspelled deliberately) can be set to turn into 1234 Your Address, City, State, etc.
• "Sig" changes into your email signature

TyperTask is a powerful automation utility with a simple text-based interface. The program enables a variety of capabilities including automatic text replacement as you type, launch of web addresses and files via hotkeys, mouse events, window focus and more.

List Numberer allows you to create a text number listing in various customizable ways. The program is useful for automatically numbering lists where Word and many other programs only create number systems according to predefined formats.

Choose starting number, customizable increments (e.g. 1, 2, 3; 1, 3, 5; 1, 4, 7), prefixes and suffixes to numbers (e.g. A-1, 2B, etc.), and the ability to strip leading numbers (for already numbered lists that need to be fixed), restart numbering for blank lines, and more.

Text Editor Anywhere is a small tool that allows you to edit text anywhere with one or more text editors. This allows the use of advanced features (like auto-completing, spell checking and syntax highlighting) available in various external editors.

WinSorter is able to manipulate highlighted text by selecting text and clicking on the TrayMenu icon. Changes include converting text to upper case, lowercase, and many variations in between. Can sort text alphabetically, numberically, remove duplicates, word count, and even do basic math operations.

Simple Text Splitter as the name implies breaks up text based files (txt, log, srt etc.) into smaller files. This can be helpful for system administrators who wish to break up system logs into smaller, more manageable parts or for data analysis where importing in all the information would take too long.

HTML Batch Editor is a simple text file batch processor designed primarily for HTML files. It can do multi-file search and replace and can strip files of complex formatting and certain more advanced content. Very useful for dealing with folders full of scripts or web pages.

Texter is a text-substitution app thats sits in the system tray and replaces user-definable abbreviations with commonly-used phrases in any application. You can also set return-to markers for your cursor, insert clipboard contents into your replacement text, or create advanced keyboard macros.

Great for frequently used phrases, email signatures, or words with great length such as medical or biological terms.

ListSorter is a very basic utility for sorting comma-separated lists into alphabetical order. It supports lists of any size (via copy & paste) and the data separators are user configurable.

TextFileOperations is a small tool which performs easy automatic transforming of simple text files. The transformation "syntax" is based on Total Commander's "Multi‑Rename" tool. Among the many features: intuitive interface, multiple file transformation, searching commands, example based documentation (cut & paste).

Xtractor is a simple tool to extract certain lines from text files, especially .CSV files. It is a fast way to automatically select specific records (lines of text) and save the output to a new file.
