PopMan is great but unfortunately it seems to be abandoned. There is one thing I don't like about it- PopMan doesn't support Unicode.

i.Scribe Free only support one (1) mail account.

Falaffel on 2017-07-26 21:38

Hy,

I tried zo use I.Scribe vie Imap with my Mailbox. Unfortunately the Imap functionality of I-Scribethis seems to be completely not in a good sape. The performance when synchronizing folder or moving/deleting Emails is very, very slow.
Could it be I am making anything wrong or the actual build has some bugs?

webfork on 2017-07-27 04:07

@Falaffel: I'm not an i.Scribe user so you probably want to try contacting support about that. Failing that, you might try listing something in our troubleshooting forums to see if someone has run into a similar issue.

npop is working with gmail.

drongo on 2010-04-30 14:13

nPOP has been a long-time favorite of mine for doing previews, quick replies, etc. Emails I want to archive I then download to another -- usually clunkier and nonportable -- client.

But actually I use the nPOPQ offshoot, available here: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA003011/ ... because I like the interface better. I hope that gets updated.

nPOPuk not being compatible with old email messages is kind of dealbreaker, nice as it sounds.

drongo on 2010-04-30 14:30

I spoke too soon above on nPOPuk not being compatible with old email boxes. It imports settings and old emails from nPOP just fine. And it does have some useful features lacking in nPOP.

However, I still like the nPOPQ interface better: There the left column has accounts on top and address book on bottom, while the right side has messages on top and message preview on the bottom.

It's a supposedly improved version based on nPOP's original source code, although the latest nPOP is much newer.

@Sam: can make nPOPuk v2.16 NOT save messages from server after retrieval: File >> Global Options >> Recv Tab >> in lower Acct Messages Box: "Nothing Saved"

@longtime npop user: not keyboard friendly, but can change sort options by: Alt-F >> O (for Global Options) >> Shift-Tab >> (once on Global Options tabs use arrows to get to sort Tab) >> use Tabs and Space to change focused selection & make selection

I recently moved away from Thundebird after 10 years use because everytime they update it, it breaks something or it runs slower. Slypheed is excellent. Its fast and reliable and doesn`t render html, which is exactly what I need.

hamasaki on 2014-06-28 04:10

@lux Maybe this was an earlier version? Now it stores all the data within the app folder, so portable.

@Kea: Thanks for the warning re. non-encrypted password storage. It's the same reason I ditched filezilla.

Not encrypting one's account info is lame for otherwise well thought out software.
