An excellent program for quickly and simply uploading data with a built-in zip feature. When working on mission critical work, you simply drag-and-drop to quickly save a zipped copy. The only option for Windows similar to the OS X "Transmit" dashboard apps.

Unfortunately lacks any security or advanced FTP functions.

Downloaded and extracted: ok. But there is a GPL open source license but no source, neither on the website...
i am wrong or blind....???

If you like to localize to your language, you will find a
translation package at: http://avpsoft.com/products/ftp-backup-freeware-save2ftp/
There is also a language pack for german and dutch.
I tried 'german' with V2.5 and it worked fine.

Andrew Lee on 2009-06-26 06:19

@Humbleside: Thanks for the official link to the freeware version. I downloaded and tried it. Although it says the version is "1.9", when you run the installer it says "2.1". And the version info in the EXE says "2.1.2.2042". So I will remove the direct download and point the links to the official ones.

Andrew Lee on 2009-06-26 06:21

@Checker: Thanks for the link. However, as I am unable to verify the authenticity of the software (eg. is it a cracked version), I will continue to point to the official links supplied by Humbleside.

This latest version doesn't seem to work in XP. Last version working is 6.1.2.13797

dmiranda on 2024-03-15 16:21

The newest version at this time (6.3.2) works again in windows XP.

dmiranda on 2024-04-20 00:12

WinSCP v6.3.3 continues to work with XP. I think it's fair to think support has been effectively restored.

"How to extract:" instructions should be redacted accordingly.

@billon
Thanks for updating "How to extract".

Having used it for many years, Filezilla has lost its way now in my opinion. The irritating pop up balloon on every successful upload is just one of the annoyances. The latest update seemed to corrupt something on my Windows and I was reduced to about one fifteenth of the normal upload speed. Going back to an ancient version hasn't fixed the issue and the portable versions are the same. However WinSCP works fine so it's that for me from now on.

1.16.2 is available but miss labeled on site. #1 is 1.16.2, labeled as a second 1.16.1 under portable version.

nikos3194 on 2022-12-01 06:39

Cool app, although by default, login IDs and passwords are saved without encryption in the configuration file. Setting a master password is needed to avoid any risk.
