Word to the wise:
Backup your current "imagine.ini" before merrily installing the new version...

While reaching for the changelog just now: "This site is now out of traffic. Please visit later." :(

Imagine falling prey to its born-again success, I suspect ?
Its Byus.Net host is enforcing traffic choking, temporarily, one would hope...:-(

PS
To the lucky dames/fellows who grabbed the new distro before this recent server hiccup :
a full changelog is also included as a "whatsnew.txt" in Imagine_1.1.0_Unicode.zip.

RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) v0.6.1

billon on 15 Oct 2018
  • 5MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 15 Oct 2018
  • Suggested by ashghost

RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) presents a before-and-after image compression view that allows you to reduce file size of an image into JPG, PNG, or GIF format. Includes optional metadata removal, batch operations, compression to a target file size, transparency options, and other common editing functions (flip, rotate, zoom, pan). Notable versus similar software in the ability to gradually reduce the available colors one-by-one (7, 8, 9, 10...), not just milestones of 16, 32, 64, etc.

The program is also available as a plugin for XnView, GIMP, or Irfanview (see website).

Functional in Linux using Wine. Many of the official entries here on PortableFreeware have used RIOT for compression. Note that the installer version of this program is considered adware.

  • Issue with saving of zoom factor.
  • Default batch window size not showing Settings button in certain situations.
  • Compress to Size button not always enabled when needed.
  • Minor UI fixes.
Removed:
  • Feature to toggle “Report file size changes” from batch settings. It is on by default.
  • Menu item for Help Context. Docs will be moved to the website.

Cool program, but wish I could just do a free mouse crop (draw a rectangle of any size or shape) on this program to crop.

shodan816 on 2015-06-01 11:26

Totally agree with webfork. A great little utility, but the ability to draw a freehand rectangle would be fantastic. Nevertheless, it's still a keeper!

shodan816 on 2015-06-01 11:28

Please ignore last comment. Latest version allows free rectangle. Thank you, Trimto!
