GitHub user clsid' fork of Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a lightweight player with broad format support. It includes keyboard shortcuts, audio/video controls, a web interface for remote control and more. The program is derived from Media Player Classic (MPC), a media player that mimics the interface of Windows Media Player 6.4, and adds support for EVR rendering, H.264 and VC-1 video hardware acceleration, bugfixes, additional languages, decoders and more.

Note: this is a fork of the original version that ceased development in 2017.

How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP or 7z package and extract to a folder of your choice
  2. Delete unnecessary language files
  3. Create an empty text file and name it mpc-hc.ini or mpc-hc64.ini (the INI file basically needs to have the same name as the EXE).
  4. Launch mpc-hc.exe or mpc-hc64.exe

No matter what IMO Media Player Classic has always been, and will always be the best overall Media Player. I've been using for a very long time on many different OS's and it fulfilled my needs on all of them. I like the look and all the rest, maybe I'm being partial but so what it works 4me :) Great job by the makers so thanks for the hard work.

mpv.net is a media player based on mpv. It's a highly advanced and extremely configurable player that targets power users. Unlike similar tools, the program uses FFmpeg for decoding instead of relying on DirectShow or Media Foundation. mpv.net adds a modern GUI on top of mpv but retains mpv's command line support.

mpv has OpenGL video output with support for several video scaling algorithms, color management, interpolation, HDR, D3D11VA and DXVA2 hardware video decoding, and more.

MPUI-hcb is a lightweight audio/video player for most formats without requiring external codecs. The program offers support for DVD menus, loading archives including RAR, 7Z and ZIP media, subtitles and lyrics. Subtitle scale video aspect, DVD menu etc. are all mouse-controlled.

The program is a front-end for MPlayer.

There seem to have been some updates, the files on sourceforge howwever give a date instead of a version number.

The Fosshub link does work but not with any download manager

Note that XP and Vista support has been removed from the 4.9 series, so grab 4.8.8.2 while you still can
