Simple Duplicate Finder v1.2.0.3

webfork on 13 Jan 2019
  • 117KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 1 Dec 2011

Simple Duplicate Finder helps track down similar files either to delete extras and save space or to compare versions. While most duplicate-searching programs are looking for exact copies, SDF uses a Percentage Search, allowing you to adjust the percentage difference required for a file to be considered a duplicate. Once scanned, the program will display the number of bytes which differ as well as the specific percentage match between files.

This is useful for example with metadata: when Windows Image Import tool downloads pictures from your digital camera, additional XML data is inserted into the images and video files, including a timestamp of when the image was downloaded to the computer. Although the image is identical in every way to its original, the file will appear as unique. SDF can detect these files and help remove them.

Note: main site appears to be down, switched to archive.org

Simple Duplicate Finder v1.2.0.3 - link date 20-FEB-2012
Just re-discovered this antediluvian gem of a dups finder...;-)

What's not to like ?

• Terse, elegant, skillfully crafted GUI
• Option for similitude percentage match
• Filter for file extension
• Duplicate entries results neatly listed as offset to the stem file
• Stunningly fast execution (files CRC used as match criteria)
• Tiny footprint (117KB exe)
Leanest of TPFC's "Duplicate Checkers" current 11 entries

Oldie, but goodie...Recommended.

r8brain is designed to perform high quality sample rate conversion of WAV files. For example, if your WAV file was recorded or saved as 48000 (or 96000) file and you need it to burn onto a CD you will likely need to convert it to 44100 before that. This utility helps you to perform such conversions. r8brain also supports batch processing which is essential if you need to transfer all your project's audio data from one sample rate to another.

This program is amazing, especially for freeware.

On the subject of quality, see the test results at http://src.infinitewave.ca/

r8brain compares very favourably to many of the other SRCs tested.

I'm not sure where to post this, but I *think* r8brain Free 1.9 might modify the registry here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Wow6432Node\Voxengo\r8brain]
"InFolderName"="[DIRECTORY]"

With [Directory] being the location of the file I converted.

Maybe someone can convert a .wav's sample rate and double check?
