WizTree v4.19 Updated

Special on 5 Mar 2024
  • 13MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 5 Mar 2024
  • Suggested by I am Baas

WizTree is a very fast disk space analyzer and search tool, scanning a single folder or your entire hard drive quickly and showing those files and folders using the most disk space. The program uses the NTFS Master File Table (MFT) feature in Windows to rapidly view files.

Note that this high-speed mode is limited to local, NTFS-formatted drives. The program must do a (much slower) scan of FAT-formatted or network drives for analysis.

Just downloaded the latest portable version, and it asks for admin permission. That is a no no for me.
Looking at the manifest it says: AsInvoker, so i'm not sure why it would ask.

I don't know if this is the case in Windows 11, but in Windows 10 the new "Windows 11 style" UI seems noticeably laggier.

Noticed the same thing here, I reverted back personally, and frankly this "change" is enough to keep me from updating to future versions. The dev is very good about these things though, so maybe he'll revert these changes back if he knew there were issues, he's somewhat active (I think) on these here forums.

If it ain't broke...

Rufus, or Reliable USB Formatting Utility (with Source), is a small and fast utility that helps create bootable external drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks etc. The program is ideal for use with installation media from ISOs (Windows, Linux etc.) for working on a system without an OS, flashing device BIOS or other firmware, or you want to run a low-level system utility.

Functional on 64-bit systems.

Rufus Portable also available.

@PapaiMark: as there is both a changelog link and a dedicated forum thread, changes info like what you posted are better suited for the later, thus avoiding drowning any user comments in the steady stream of updates.

@two who are you to call @Realist a troll ? WTF seems a person that flames is a troll, IMHO he was just giving his take on the software review, which I happen to agree with, so am I also a "TROLL"? Sound=music is a very subjective matter which I have heard being discussed since the "4 track" days, as the saying goes one mans junk is another mans gold... at least that's the saying. Try and lighten up on the name calling as it serves no useful purpose here.

I was looking for a player with this kind of track visualisation (foobar+addon can do it too, but just isn't great as a directory player). It's very useful if you have many recordings and looking to find certain events within them. I'd consider buying pro, but the price is quite a bit too steep for an audio player. It's more expensive than Reaper, or Renoise, and those are full fledged DAWs. I'd suggest getting ocenaudio for anyone that wants some extra functionality after finding the right audioclip with the free version of this. It's a nice combo.

@Gmacri

Select the 'Path' to scan if you don't want a whole drive.

mrpink on 2012-01-29 21:08

I think i'll keep this one. WinDirStat is prettier but Spacesniffer is way faster and natively portable

Awesome application!

Until you try it you cannot really appreciate it... After all that applies to 99% of things in life ;)
