I agree, minimizing to tray and hotkey would make this perfect.
It works great from my mp3 player. It can use the random playlist the mp3 player generated so I dont miss the random button so much.

lautrepay on 2012-02-05 23:16

I'm afraid that hotkey support is not in the immediate plans of Mr. Pawlowski for Boom: "Noteworthy features currently missing:
Internet radio playback is not supported.
No easy way to integrate with Windows Explorer other than manually going through "open with" / "choose default program" for every relevant file type.
No audio CD playback."
Just a guess, but with this GUI I think the target is touchscreens...

There are lighter lightweight players with more features, but this is a single executable player that doesn't seem to "cheat" by using OS decoders. It starts instantly and the interface looks very nice (truly minimalistic and not just tiny and clumped up). I'm very much missing a time slider though. That's not a small feature to leave out of a media player. It only has fast forward and reverse, which is not very useful for things like skimming trough mixes.

Hi,
One more time, it's impossible to download Portable version. We are pulsed from page to page and finally landed on the original one.

Same experience as @Guido76 at 11:45AM EST. Looking back over the comments, it seems that Piriform has got web platform problems. Hope that sort of sloppiness doesn't carry over into the actual product.

An alternative link to the Softpedia download has been added to the entry.

Good news! A while back, the only concern about Synwrite I had was that it was slow to handle very large files, and the author agreed. That's been addressed. I just tested it with a 116Mb mysql dump. Load and search times are now excellent on an SSD-equippted machine.

smaragdus on 2017-01-07 22:06

With the pace of these torrential updates it is hard to keep this program up to date- *billon* updated it a few hours ago and now there is a new version- SynWrite 6.31.2510.

smaragdus on 2017-01-07 22:29

In between versions 6.31.2504 and 6.31.2506 was another one- 6.31.2505. It seems that even for the developer it is hard to keep its own change log up to date:
http://www.uvviewsoft.com/synwrite/History.txt
it does not include (so far) any information about the latest versions.

Desaster. It broke my Windows system beyond repair. Several programs won't start anymore. Office and Windows lost their service packs. Updates fail, same with restore points. Error messages all over the place.

YUMI v2.0.3.6 Updated

billon on 14 Jan 2017
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 14 Jan 2017
  • Suggested by webfork

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer) can be used to create a multi-boot USB flash drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more. Aside from a few distributions, all files are stored within the Multiboot folder, making for a nicely organized Multiboot Drive that can still be used for other storage purposes. YUMI uses syslinux to boot extracted distributions stored on the USB device, and reverts to using grub to Boot Multiple ISO files from USB, if necessary.

YUMI works much like Universal USB Installer, except it can be used to install more than one distribution to run from your USB. Distributions can also be uninstalled.

Note: YUMI v2.x can't remove distributions previously installed with Legacy YUMI! Although no longer supported, you can still Download Legacy YUMI.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 / Wine
Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes
License: GPL
How to extract: Download the EXE to a folder of your choice. Launch YUMI-x.x.x.x.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: Universal USB Installer
What's new?
  • Update to support Multiple Windows Vista/7/8/10 Installers.
  • -wimboot option keeps the extracted Multiboot Windows Installers in their own directory.
  • -bootmgr option moves only bootmgr and bcd to root of drive.
