libiconv2.dll does not seem to in setup. Works without it.

Cornflower on 2020-10-14 10:44

Works in Windows 10, but noticed recently that it creates a folder in the temp location
%TEMP%\pdftkb

I haven't found any files created in that location, observing it during a few tests; it is just an empty folder., so PDFTK Builder is not completely stealth in Windows 10 (still my favourite PDF utility since 2003)

Website and Download Location has changed now:

http://www.inet.hr/~dravolar/index.html

Joe on 2015-04-11 17:15

Even though this program was written a long time ago it still works on Windows 8.1. (Sorry, but I don't have a Windows 7 machine to test it). Other than this, I would like to bring the following to TFPC's attention:

1. Somehow or the other I wasn't able to find this entry on TFPC. I searched for "DriveZ" or "drivez" (without the quotes) and found nada, zero, zilch. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm out of ideas. I only happened to come across this TFPC listing while I was searching for DriveZ on the Internet.

2. Both the website and download links you have above redirects to Softpedia and I get "ERROR: 410 Gone". Obviously, Softpedia (for whatever reasons of their own) has de-listed this program.

3. The current home page for this software is http://www.inet.hr/~dragvola/index.html and NOT the one in the accountant's post above.

Please amend your listing.

P.S. I don't know why the ENTIRE URL above isn't shown as hyperlink.

@smaragdus: One thing is one thing and another thing is another thing. I was just noting that the file left behind is located in a temp folder, which does not affect the app's portability or its stealth status. I'm not judging the program's merits or demerits (never used it), and I too think that leaving a DLL behind is not a good practice, but let's not mix things up. A bad, or even a malicious program, can still be portable.

lautrepay on 2015-12-31 13:49

@smaragdus: And don't get me wrong. Your comment is a valuable one.

smaragdus on 2016-01-01 13:49

@lautrepay
I don't get you wrong. In fact I spotted the DLL I mentioned because my anti-virus shrieked (false positive, of course). I was harsh about the developer of Yadabyte Subtext but I really do think it would be better if this DLL was extracted in Yadabyte Subtext program folder (I see no logical reason why it should be extracted in Temp folder). In short, I agree it Yadabyte Subtext is portable but not stealth. Regards and happy new year!

very simple utility, the only problem is it's limited to your system memory.
i tried performing a calculation on a file about 1.5GB but it gives me a not enough memory message.
i'm only on 1GB of RAM so i find this utility useless if i want to check the hash values on large files.
for example i regularly download torrent files 2GB - 4GB in size. which would require 4 GB of RAM!!!

Can anyone recommend a different app?

gdmellott on 2013-12-14 07:11

This little "proggy" has been around for a long time. Where it excels is the process of adding an MD5 signature to a filename to help verify you still have a valid file. Such as after emailing it to someone else. Drag and Drop the file to dsmd5.exe "Yes" to copy to clipboard, then append something like [md5=].

gdmellott on 2013-12-14 07:13

For some reason the short-hand for Control-V after "md5=" did not show up.

I do prefer unlocker wich is more efficient to delete files like index.dat and other system locked files. Unlocker can be used uninstaled by simply drop the locked file on the unlocker.exe (use universal extractor on unlocker 1st)

a on 2006-11-03 12:47

Oh my ass! :P that stupid message that pops up when you try to move or delete a file/folder is extremely annoying.. i usually use openfilesview, (from nirsoft of course!) it's lets you close openedfile handles from a listview, and then you can delete the file.

Andrew Lee on 2006-11-07 21:25

Unlocker actually installs a device driver that is listed in the registry as an absolute path. If the location of Unlocker changes while the old device driver path is still hanging around, Unlocker will refuse to run.

This is a good idea, but is poorly implemented. It only uses the first 8 characters of the password. That is very insecure.

yadabyte shh is a simple to use text encrypter.
one should experiment with it to learn how to use it.
it doesn't take long to master. it is more than adequate
for the average or casual user who wants to encrypt a message.

infestedtassadar-x17 on 2009-01-08 04:01

this program is horribly insecure and should be avoided. as statedly above, only the first 8 characters are actually used. this program will read 12345678x and 12345678y as the same password for example.
