CSVfileView v2.20 released as of 23-SEP-2015

Changelog

* Version 2.20:
o Added 'Display Filter' option (F2). The display filter is
somewhat similar to the SQL WHERE clause, for example... The
following filter will instruct CSVFileView to display only lines with
'Yes' value in the Connected column and the 'Device Name' column
contains a 'USB' string:
Connected = 'Yes' AND 'Device Name' CONTAINS 'USB'
o Added 'Load Filter' option to the 'Advanced Open' window. It's
similar to the 'Display Filter' feature, but instead of filtering the
file after it's already loaded , the load filter skip items during
the loading process, so the file will be loaded faster and
CSVFileView will consume less memory.
o Added 'First line contains column names' and 'Automatically
detect the delimiter and quotes characters' options to the 'Advanced
Open' window.
o Added /aload command-line option, for loading a file according to
the 'Advanced Open' settings.
o You can now specify any variable inside the CSVFileView.cfg file
as a command-line parameter, for example... In order to turn off the
'First Line Contains Column Names' option:
CSVFileView.exe /FirstLineColumnNames 0

I'm getting an error with this: "TakeStock2 was unable to start. An error occured while opening the TakeStock database. Unable to read beyond the end of the stream." This is the same TakeStock database that TakeStock has just created on first run, so it seems something must be broken.

Uups, sorry.
Changed back to v1.5.0

smaragdus on 2017-06-11 06:08

I cannot find RedNotebook version 2.0 for Windows (as of 2017-06-11):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/
it seems that currently it is available for Linux only.
The latest version available for Windows is 1.15.

ashghost on 2017-09-09 01:36

@smaragdus: Version 2.2 was recently released for Windows according to changelog here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/blob/master/CHANGELOG

The project seems to have moved to GitHub. Downloads (Windows .exe and source archives) are here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/releases. The link to Windows versions on the website now links to there.

I have not tested it for portability.

CloneSpy v3.41 Updated

billon on 27 May 2018
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 26 May 2018
  • Suggested by Fluffy

CloneSpy can help you free up hard drive space by detecting and removing duplicate files with exactly the same contents regardless of their name, date, time, or location. Also, CloneSpy is able to find files that are not exactly identical, but have the same file name. This can be an issue for example if you have different versions of a file and you want to find and remove the older versions. CloneSpy is able to find zero-byte files.

Note: The installer now allows you to choose between a 32 or 64-bit version of CloneSpy.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application Folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes

How to extract: Download the installer and select 'portable version' at installation type. Launch CloneSpy.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: DoubleKiller
What's new? Added:
  • Files and folders that are ignored during scanning can now be logged (see Logging page of the Options window).
  • A new option remembers size and position of the Add folder window (see Priority page of the Options window).
  • The new command line option -s allows for silent scans (see the help file for details).
  • A message box now explains the Delete all (!) option on the Time + Size page of the Options window when that option is selected.
Modified:
  • Removed the entry Programme from the default folder ignore list (see Folders page of the Options window).
Fixed:
  • Hitting the space bar while a scan is ongoing no longer closes the scan progress window.
  • The context help now works for the edit box in the Insert mask window.
  • Corrected typo (spacing) in the Mode drop-down box of the Main window.

A lot of people here trying to delete multiples of the same image - I just wanted to give a shout out to Dup Detector, which is a great piece of software that does exactly that.

Dup Detector doesn't just do file-size/checksum analysis, it actually analyzes the images to find similarities. E.g. one could be black & white and the other can be color, or one can be watermarked, or one could be taken 2 seconds later because someone blinked & it'll find both and display them to you and ask which one you want to delete or if you want to keep both. You can choose how strict it is in its matching algorithm - 100% mach, 95% match etc.

You can even have it set up to automatically select which one to delete based on rules - e.g. the smaller one. Then you just approve the selection by hitting the space bar, or you can just let it do its thing automatically, or you can go full-manual mode and click the image you want to delete. Super fast way to delete duplicates and easy to use. I've used it professionally to manage large image catalogs that had a lot of duplicates of different sizes.

Unfortunately, it's not portable.

The latest version I have is 3.3.02 from July 8, 2011. You can get an earlier version from rareware.
