A great way to see what services are available over your network. Its easier to use compared to the excellent SoftPerfect Network Scanner (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=730, but with fewer features.

Note that on some networks, especially large ones, the program will appear to have crashed. Give it about 5-10 minutes before closing the window.

To access Windows or Samba network shares, right click and choose "Open in Explorer".

FYI they have version 2.0.0.0 BETA available at the website (haven't found any changelog)

donald on 2011-11-21 05:34

The new beta 2.0.0.0 Supports Vista,& 7 and notes a release date of 4/19/2010

donald on 2011-11-21 05:41

I recommend updating to the 2.0.0.0 Beta and hosting it instead, specifically If I am not misinformed this just edits a single registry key (different Reg key for each new Windows OS) and thus is just a simple 1 key Reg editor.

It should be tested for portability though.

While it works on my Xp machine,it doesn't start up on my 98SE machine. No error, nothing running in background, just as though I'd never tried to start it.

Hm, the domain name runs out april 1 2010 - doesn't look as if the site has been updated in 7 years - wonder if this is the end of HoverIP

Kermode on 2010-07-16 00:43
