As I far as I can tell moonedit is the only portable/standalone collaborative editor you can find. Others I've found require runtimes (gtk,bonjour,java) to be installed.. so in short, this is the one.

Although MoonEdit was abandoned long time ago, it still works fine on Windows 8 and one of its funniest and nicest aspects is that it can be used as a messenger. |
CryptNote is a basic secure text editor that transparently encrypts/decrypts text with a password.
Similar in design to Windows Notepad and uses the AES/Rijndael encryption algorithm.
