MD5 Checksum Tool is a drag-and-drop hash checking tool that can generate a file checksum to analyze if a file has changed, usually to affirm it's legitimate and uncorrupted. The program can scan a folder and subfolders (recursively), as well as provide a report of all files, their size, and checksums. Supports very large files (4GB+) and includes a progress bar to estimate remaining time.
The program will allow the comparison of two files with their respective checksums and supports MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 checksums.
A 64-bit version is available (within the x64 folder).

There's no [portable] link anymore on the homepage (where other apps do) and I can verify that v2.8.0.0 writes it's setting to the registry.

Disregard my previous comment, something screwed up my regShot. It only writes the EulaAccepted key to the registry. Not stealth and a little annoying but otherwise portable...

Couldn't get this to run reliably at all. Constant freezes; always had to kill it with Task Manager. |
SendTo MD5 is a small utility to calculate and compare MD5 checksums of files or strings. You can easily check the integrity of files, compare different MD5 hashes or simply check if two files are identical. Additionally, you can search files with specific MD5 hash and benchmark the time it takes to calculate MD5 hash from specific file.

This program doesn't simply check file integrity, it also lets you restore files that have been damaged using data redundancy. While very useful for archive purposes, users should realize this ADDS a percentage of data to the archive. A 1.5 gig archive took up 422 megs with default settings.

@Webfork: www.par2.net is gone -- at least, where PAR (Parity Archive) info is concerned. |
HashCompare helps verify files via drag-and-drop interface using any of the the popular hash algorithms MD5, SHA1 or SHA256. Can quickly drag one or both files for analysis and save reports to XML/HTML/text.

If you use the Installer Version then this might be the case (haven't Tested) but if you use the EXE in the Portable Version folder it won't Install RealPlayer etc... |

I am unsure if all would consider it portable, but this application is no longer stealth. The following folder/file are created each time the application is run:

@DavesNotHere: After the extraction of the installer, you have to create a file named "portable" or "portable.txt" in the app folder.

I created the zero-byte file "portable" in the app folder and voila! It is portable and stealth. Thanks! I don't know how I missed that step. |
FileVerifier++ checks and compares files to see if they have been modified. Supports drag-and-drop, recursive directory processing, patterns, color coding, export to a variety of hashing formats (.sfv, .md5, .csv, etc.) and more. Can use any of 21 different hashing algorithms such as CRC16 for speed and SHA-512 for security (uses the standard MD5 by default).
The program (ZIP version) will automatically ask to create verification files with relative pathways, which is much more portable.
Win2K users should use an earlier version. A beta 64-bit version is available.

A little intimidating at first, but so far looks like the best file verification tool I've tried yet. Fast, recursive directory verify, open source, relative pathways, and multiple different verification methods? Dream come true for making sure your data hasn't changed or corrupted. Recommend MD5 for general file verification and SHA 256 for security verifications.

Doesn't convert both hashes to upper or lower case, so if your MD5 hash is uppercase, it will say they don't match even though they do. |
