PngOptimizer is an easy-to-use program to compress common graphics formats to PNG format with no visible quality difference. Files can be added one at a time or in batch to the program icon or window. even from the clipboard (press CTRL+V while the application is in focus). Graphics formats supported include BMP, GIF, TGA, as well as further compressesing PNG files by removing unnecessary data without affecting quality. Animated GIF and PNG files (APNG) are also supported. Size decrease for PNG files varies widely on the original editor, but GIF and BMP conversions can be as much as 40% to 90% respectively.

Note: The 32-bit and 64-bit releases may have different version numbers.

Alternatively, PngOptimizer Portable automatically switches between 32-bit and 64-bit and adjusts the screenshots path.

jpgQ v1.0

webfork on 25 Apr 2014

jpgQ is an image analysis tool that can estimate the quality settings used to save a JPEG image. Since it's difficult to determine the compression level without access to the original, this program can help determine this (between 1 and 100).

Useful for image editors interested in seeing if a JPEG edit will drastically reduce quality, since higher numbers are more likely to survive another instance of lossy compression without serious degradation.

uh..that's 1,500 images. Darn typing skills!

I like this program. It actually does what it's supposed to in a decent amount of time on a retail Vista (dual core) computer. It's sophisticated. I would love if there was an analogous program for sounds too.

Works beautifully. Saved me quite a bit of disk space with pictures that were either identical but of slightly different sizes or of the same situation side by side so I could choose the better pic.

JPEG & PNG Stripper v1.5.7.70

webfork on 19 Apr 2014

JPEG & PNG Stripper is a drag-and-drop metadata stripper/cleaner for one or more JPG/JPEG, JFIF and PNG files, saving disk space and protecting privacy. Metadata carries a variety of information about the camera or device used to take the picture, date it was taken, and other data primarily important for photographers. Because metadata increasingly carries more and more information about the pre-cropped original photo and on where the picture was taken (geo-location), metadata can represent a privacy risk. Deleting metadata usually saves between 1 and 10% of the overall file size.

The program includes a "preview only" feature to show how much space image metadata is taking up.

Metadata in images is just the same as tags in audio files. They are used to store useful information (OK some of the information is not not that useful to most of us like what camera took the pic). Would be better if this program gave you a list of common metadata and let you tick those you didn't want it to remove.
