HamMultiPlayer displays one or more media files for analysis in real time. It can be used to find, move, delete or preview any video/audio file. The program can scan drives and directories, and then sort a generated list. Intended primarily to help videographers look through lots of footage, the program can also make it easy to find and eliminate duplicated or similar files.

The program uses Mplayer and MediaInfo Library to decode and display files, playing everything Mplayer can play.

Functional in 64-bit and supports multiple monitors.

Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes. Can be configured to delete all program traces

Hi Kanu,

You wrote : "The author says the program doesn't write in other places that in his own folder."

Sorry, but I never said that : HamMultiPlayer needs to decompress files to be able to work and it does that inside "%temp%\HAM\". This directory is used to store HMP_mplayer.exe + MediaInffo.dll and 4 ini files. If you use HamCpu, HamMultiPlayerCPU.exe will be decompressed too. If you use thumbnails display, thumbnails will be created inside the same path and deleted when you stop using it...
The only exception is when you select "SaveBeside" in prefs. In this case, prefs file is saved beside HamMultiPlayer (in same directory for reasons of portability).
Portable means "no installation", not "without file writing".

If nevertheless you see others files spread everywhere, please let me know and check that your version is the one coming from my web site.

Barnuble.

Sorry if I sounded hostile but the web says 'This is a "portable" software, this means that everything is already included inside the ".exe" (no installation, no registry keys, ...)'.
Those three dots means etc.; so, portable + etc means no writing beyond its own folder because that's what portable means: I can move the folder to other drive and keep the settings.

But the problem, as you pointed, was that at first I didn't tick the "Save beside" checkbox. So, my suggestion after this would be to rename that box to a more common wording. But anyway, the blame is all mine. Sorry again.

The program is very useful, by the way.

webfork on 2016-12-10 04:46

@Kanu: Different sites have different definitions for portable but here "Stealth" is the term used when a program doesn't modify files outside of it's application folder (including the registry). HamMultiPlayer is not stealth but is portable. Please post in forums if you'd like to discuss further.

By the author of Ubiquitous Player:

I've decided to stop updating this program. In 3 years I received exactly zero feedback on it, so I guess no one really uses it.

Thanks.

shnbwmn on 2016-05-17 21:37

So ... is this program being actively developed again now?

MIKLO on 2016-08-23 14:32

WOW this is still being updated I'm surprised but anytime someone is willing to improve their software 4me its a good thing. I used this some time back it does a lot of things but to me is just way to busy although it did work well when I used. :)

Many new changes in the latest version of MPC-HC as jazzruby said. They even changed the exe name! I propose MPC-HC has its own entry now.

MPC Homecinema now winPenPack portable app http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.1228
In this version all play list and recent files paths are normalized.

Masterbrowser on 2010-10-27 20:36

If I am correct, creating an .ini file in the application folder with the same name as the .exe file (eg. mpc-hc.ini or mpc-hc64.ini) and with the first line reading [Settings] will make the application portable. All settings will be written to the ini file and default.mpcpl in the application folder. This will prevent settings to be written to the registry or to the %appdata% folder.

you guys are retards, ive tried it and it is better than vlc or mpc, imo, and I haven't encountered any problem whatsoever with it

I compressed all binaries with upx --lzma and I was able to reduce it to 18mb

Since rulesPlayer and SMPlayer are essentially the same thing, how do they compare to each other, what's different (besides the interface), which is more feature filled and stable?

"NoInstrumentation"="1" . Also, http://www.tomstricks.com/how-to-disable-user-tracking-spying-in-windows-xp-to-improve-performance/ gives several other methods for accomplishing the task. Cheers!
