PeaZip is a feature-rich file archiver with broad support for 100+ archive types.  The file manager interface includes a hash tool, file wipe, file associations, themes, estimated compression level, system benchmark, image crop/rename, and much more. Cross platform (Linux/BSD) and a 64-bit version is available. Alternatively, PeaZip Portable portablizes bookmarks and includes both 32 and 64-bit versions, automatically using the proper one on each PC.

Download link (http://www.peazip.org/peazip-portable.html) raises a 404 "not found" error. Link instead just to http://www.peazip.org/ or to http://peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-portable.html.

What is an "Alternate Stream" ?
Are you talking about 'streaming video' ?

Checker on 2014-01-11 00:40

@ vmars316: Alternate (Data) Streams are a data structure for holding additional structured data within a file in addition to the main data.
The Windows NTFS file system allows so-called Alternate Data Streams (ADS). With this function, data can be stored invisibly tied by the user to a file.

Dropbox had a bug a while back (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Syncing-and-uploads/com-dropbox-attributes/m-p/63351) and polluted every file with an alternate data stream. Any copy action thereafter from our NTFS drive to a thumb drive (usually FAT32) was interrupted by a warning, "Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?" Very annoying! AlternateStreamView quickly and easily fixes the problem, as discovered here (http://superuser.com/questions/814312/is-it-possible-to-remove-the-are-you-sure-you-want-to-copy-this-file-without-it)

Pazera Free Audio Extractor v2.4 Updated

billon on 5 Dec 2016
  • 13MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Dec 2016
  • Suggested by jack

Pazera Free Audio Extractor takes the audio from most major video files without loss of sound quality or converts them to a variety of common audio formats. The program can also behave as a simple conversion tool from one audio format to another (e.g. AAC to MP3).

Some supported formats include (audio) MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WAV, ALAC, WavPack, AIFF; (video) AVI, FLV, MP4, MPG, MOV, RM, 3GP, WMV, VOB, MKV, WebM, and OGV.

Note: By default, the program will extract/convert to MP3. Select "Try extract original audio stream" to avoid re-encoding. This is faster, but may result in a format some devices can't read. Additionally, the program has a number of predefined settings (profiles) specially designed for novice users. More advanced users can easily customize audio encoding parameters with output parameters.

useless. to most of us, PORTABLE requires us to be able to run as NON-ADMIN. can't use this. can't install it. not truly portable. don't get me wrong, I use it all the time on my cluster at home, just can't use this at work or on common machines at school.

dany on 2011-10-27 15:15

@Cattleya: Make sure you download the zip package, because the installer does the following:
"The kernel mode driver used by CPU-Z is installed on the system, that avoids to install / remove it at every run."
The portable version leaves no driver behind, just tested it.

@kc: I used to do sysadmin for a small non-profit org. 7 pc's and 2 printers, no big deal. I carried all my tools on a pendrive. Off course I had admin-rights, but this is a typical scenario a lot of us are in, so it's not entirely useless, portable is the way to go for sysadmins ;)

kleinkinstein on 2014-03-22 13:09

CPUZ is old, tired and practically useless. It's heyday was about six years ago. Speccy is a must for today.
