Autoruns shows programs that run during system bootup or login, as well as entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility.
A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).

RapidCRC Unicode is a hashing program capable of checking and verifying the integrity of files, folders, or whole drives. The program includes process priority, ability to pause/resume analysis, job queuing, easily copy hashes to the clipboard and multi-threaded checks. If using checksum files (e.g. .sfv or .md5) for future verification, options include the ability to generate for every analyzed file, directory, or a single checksum with all hash data.
Includes direct support for CRC hashing in the filename (common for anime releases) for example: "MyFile [45DEF3A0].avi") Other algorithms range from fast to secure, including SFV(CRC32), MD5, ED2K, SHA-1/256/512 and Blake2sp.
Based on the original RapidCRC but updated with extended Unicode support.

This is currently my go-to program. I tend to add it to the "send to" menu on machines I'm currently using and it works beautifully to check one or more files. Also, the ability to insert the hash directly into the file name makes so much sense. Just drag-and-drop it into the window and instantly know if there's a problem. Great solution to the multi-step check.

I think there is something wrong with the "CRC into Filename" function. This occurs with files that lack a file extension.

I have been using FreeCommander for many years and it is, simply, outstanding. To not have a real file manager is a misfortune; to be without FreeCommander is to be handicapped. Over time I have introduced many new users to FreeCommander and the results are always the same after several weeks of use - fascination that they ever managed to function with that Windows File Explorer thing. I had moved to FreeCommander when the old Xtree/XtreeGold file manager was no longer functional in Windows, and other file managers were not handling the complex file management work regularly encountered. At first, the two default panes in FreeCommander seemed odd. Though one pane can be disabled or hidden, dual panes grow quickly on the user until one realizes - wait, how can anyone function with a file manager that has just one pane?

Notable versus similar software in the ability to gradually reduce the available colors one-by-one (7, 8, 9, 10...), not just milestones of 16, 32, 64 etc.
The program is also available as a plugin for XnView, GIMP, or Irfanview (see website).

This one is great. Unlike the other magnifier in the database ("OneLoupe"), it can also magnify constantly changing values on the display (OneLoupe sticks to the first value when moved over a changing field). I use Magnifixer to magnify the constantly changing display of a stopwatch ("1Time", also in the database), so I can check the watch when I'm doing something several metres away from the screen.

Tweak PDF lets you set the initial view preferences of a PDF document, such as whether to center window of the PDF file when opened, whether to display document title, to fit window, to hide menu bar, to hide toolbar, and to hide window UI. You can also set the page mode of a PDF document, such as show PDF files in full screen mode, outlines mode, thumbnail mode, or simply without any special mode. In addition, PDF document properties such as title, subject, author, keywords etc. can be modified.
Note: The latest version is no longer freeware - now includes a 500k file limit. As such, I have made the last free version (v1.33) available for direct download.

I need a program that will rotate a pdf by 4 degrees counterclockwise. I just discovered I can't do this in Acrobat!

BGM: I don't know of a program that will do that. My best guess is a combination of 3 programs: export it to a high-quality PNG using PDF-XChange, rotate it using PhotoScape, and then convert back to PDF using LibreOffice. Please post in forums if you find another method.

I needed to connect to an onion site and downloaded the latest version (5.0.2) but Australis makes Tor Browser absolutely terrible and unusable- I do not want to install heaps of add-ons just to restore features the Mozilla idiots removed. I had an earlier version of Tor Browser (3.6.0- before the advent of the abominable Australis) but the perpetual blinking of the Tor button urging for update is unbearable and cannot be disabled. It can be removed from the tool-bar but this way one cannot acquire new identities.

Starting from version 8.0 Tor project builds both version of TorBrowser: 32 bit and 64 bit. |
JPEGView is a minimalistic viewer/editor designed to view images from digital cameras full screen and with highest quality possible. Basic image editing functionality is provided, allowing correction for typical problems as color cast, high/low contrast, orientation and under- or overexposure very quickly and interactively during review of the images. The program can view and save JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF, or WEBP. Includes batch rename and copy features.
While JPEGView is not intended as a replacement for a full-blown image editor, the included tool set of commonly-used modifications means such editors should be needed less often.
A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).
Alternatively, JPEGView Portable is also available from PortableApps.

Re my previous comment: This was with the 32-bit version. I have no way of knowing how the 64-bit version deals with transparencies, as I can't run it on my machine. At any rate, viewing them is OK; just don't save them from JPEGView.

I've been using this program for many years. I also have set this as my default Jpg viewer. It is super fast, preloads the next image before you view it so there is no white screen flash between images.

I fully agree with everything nineascii said about it. I've also been using it for many years, so glad that development continues. It now supports AVIF and WEBP etc. |
