WinBar is a system monitoring utility that provides information on CPU, memory, hard disk, battery etc. in a collapsible bar located at the top of the screen. It has various modules that you can enable/disable that provides access to a wide range of functions, including email, news, network time synchronization, application launcher etc.
WinBar is available in 32 and 64 bit editions.

Nice neat utility. I can keep an eye on the CPU usage and see if it seems excessive.
Needs to have a similar display for HDD activity.
Not bad; however it doesn't do anything I would consider indispensable. The memory footprint isn't exactly small (altough it probably depends on what you let it do), in my configuration oscillating around 15 MB. For me that's quite a trade-off, but mileages may vary.
Look at Glint as an alternate, it shows CPU, disk and more
