i just want the download link

Niefer 2008-09-08 04:28

The current version is 170B2 and now it supports unicode.

Midas 2008-09-18 03:27

Is there a reason this isn't getting updated anymore? It seems like perfectly good portable freeware...

Martin K. 2009-02-27 00:46

The partial track ripping never worked right and it didn't even name the files appropriately.

Charlee 2009-11-15 17:04

Still a classic favorite, thanks for keeping it alive!

freakazoid 2009-11-15 20:01

Whomever updated this listing forgot to note that the new beta download doesn't use a ZIP package, it uses an installer; the installer can be extracted with Universal Extractor.

The download link gives a zip package. It's beta 2, though.

freakazoid 2009-11-15 20:44

Yeah, but the listing is for beta 3.

cd_changer 2009-11-16 08:10

what's new in this ver? 10x.

guinness 2009-11-16 12:45

There is no change log on the site and the one included in the directory is from 2006. The obvious change I can see is on the About box there has been 2 new developers added.

This threw an "the application failed to initialize properly"... error on XP SP3. Previous version worked fine.

The filesize is larger as well because they've added a bunch of new DLLs - lib_faad.dll, libfaad2.dll, libOggFLAC.dll and more.

where do i find these? BTW, i find CDex does not look like portable at all. it installed (i can see menus of it in start menu). did it happen because i did not remove those two? TIA.

mukhi 2012-04-30 12:03

oops! i meant to say where to go to "Delete $PLUGINSDIR and $COMMONFILES"?

V1.70 Beta 4

mrpink 2012-05-02 19:02

@mukhi: the instructions are good if you extract with 7zip. If you extract with Universal Extractor, move the contents of $INSTDIR folder to a folder of your choice and delete everything else

V1.70 Beta 4

mukhi 2012-05-03 09:51

@mrpink the file is CDex-win32-1.70-b4-2009.exe and not a .7z or .zip file! i simply installed in my flash drive choosing the destination.
BTW, does it make a difference when you extract by 7zip or windows default zip program? thanks.

webfork 2012-05-05 18:34

mukhi: 7zip can open many EXE files as well. From the 7-zip menu, choose the file and select Extract.

CDex 1.70 final has been released today

v1.70 Beta 4

thepiney 2014-06-30 09:21

New version requires Visual C++ 2013 DLL files.

vcredist_x86.exe is included in the download. I couldn't find a zipped download for the files so I just ran the install.

v1.70 Beta 4

smaragdus 2014-11-18 07:04

CDex version 1.72 is available for download and there is a native portable build- in fact two builds- one using Unicode encoding and another using Multibyte encoding- http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/files/cdexos/

@ smaragdus: Thanks ... and updated ;)

v1.72

AdrianK_IT 2014-11-18 18:32

There is also a version in PortableApps format:

http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/cdex_portable

Though (as is often the case) it's slightly less up-to-date.

v1.72

smaragdus 2014-12-26 22:21

CDex 1.75 released.

v1.74

agam 2014-12-29 16:35

1.74 and 1.75 is NOT portable (like 1.70), writes settings in c:\ .... and not in the apllications folder !

v1.74

joby_toss 2014-12-29 22:10

v1.74

smaragdus 2015-03-02 03:52

@agam
I agree- version 1.76 is not portable, saving settings to \User\AppData\Local\CDex even when there are INI files in its own directory.

v1.76

smaragdus 2015-05-20 00:10

No- CDex 1.78 is not portable. Has the maintainer tested it?
Now CDex installer contains OpenCandy.
The old home page- http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/ is no longer available.
The original developers- arianepaola (Ariane Paola Gomes) and codingmaster (Georgy Berdyshev) are no longer listed at CDex SourceForge page- https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/
The forum has been removed from SourceForge- https://sourceforge.net/p/cdexos/discussion/
Something fishy has happened.
Checker- please check CDex for portability.
I tested it several times and it is not portable!

v1.77

Checker 2015-05-20 01:08

@ smaragdus: The update I made is v1.77 (portable, ZIP) not v1.78 (not portable, INSTALLER).

v1.77

smaragdus 2015-05-21 02:11

@Checker
I tested versions 1.77, 1.76, 1.75, 1.74 and all they are not portable, although there was CDex.ini file in the folder I run CDex it created new folder in C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\CDex.
Did you check this?

v1.77

romulous 2015-05-28 10:07

@smaragdus: You will note that the SourceForge page is now listed as being owned by 'sf-editor1'. That is one of the SourceForge staff accounts. What that means for CDex is detailed here in this Ars article:
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/05/sourceforge-grabs-gimp-for-windows-account-wraps-installer-in-bundle-pushing-adware/

tl;dr: SourceForge decided that the project page was abandoned, took it over and bundled the installer with ads, as they have done for a number of other well known projects.

v1.77

AndTheWolf 2016-06-18 16:26

The link on this page still points to CDExPortable_1.7.8.paf.exe, not to version 1.8.1. PortableApps.com has the updated link.

v1.8.1

webfork 2016-06-18 17:33

@AndTheWolf: Good catch - I'm just using the PA home for both the website and download links.

v1.8.1
