Caustic is a music creation tool inspired by rack-mount synthesizers / samplers rigs. Create your rack by adding up to 14 machines from a choice of synths, drum machines, vocoder, and more. Some included rigs:

  • Subsynth - Virtual analog subtractive synthesizer
  • PCMSynth - Multi-sample wave synthesizer
  • BassLine - 303-like monosynth
  • BeatBox - 8-channel sampling drum machine
  • PadSynth - Harmonic table pad synthesizer
  • 8BitSynth - 8bit equation solver synthesizer
  • Modular - Fully configurable and routable synthesizer
  • Organ - Hammond-like tonewheel organ with rotary speaker
  • Vocoder - 8-band harmonic vocoder
  • FMSynth - DX-style 3-operator fm synthesizer
  • KSSynth - Karplus-Strong string modeling synth
  • SawSynth¬†- Supersaw-type polysynth

Cross platform (Mac, iOS, Linux via Wine, and Android).

How to extract: Download the "Standalone" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch Caustic.exe.

- Same conditions: free with no official support (main apps are for Android and iOS)

Download for portable version no longer working.
Site is throwing a "Page not found. The requested page "/download/" could not be found." error.

Can someone share their original zip file please?

Magnificient app, many thanks @ Checker for adding it to DB.
Since the OP I'va tested it more en Windows 8.1 and it can even handle ASIO and WASAPI really well, so near-real time with external MIDI keyboard is functionnal! More info on their forum, nice community BTW!
