Solfege is computer-aided music training system, which you can use to train your rhythm, interval, scale and chord skills. The program is indented to help music students with their ear training.
Some of the existing exercises:

  • Recognize melodic and harmonic intervals
  • Compare interval sizes
  • Sing the intervals the computer asks for
  • Identify chords
  • Sing chords
  • Sing tone from chords: root, third, fifth, etc
  • Scales
  • Dictation
  • Rhythm dictation
  • Remembering rhythmic patterns
  • Theory: name intervals and scales
  • Cadences
X-Solfege is a portable package/wrapper for Solfege.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: Application folder
License: GPL
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch X-Solfege.exe.
What's new?
  • Updated Esperanto, Portugese and Turkish translations to the users manual.
  • Updated Spannish and Turkish messages.
  • Distribute solfege/tests/lesson-files/*.
  • help/C/scales/modes.html are never translated. So we must link to the C-locale file in every translation.
  • gettext tweaks to make the test suite work both when run as "test.py" and "test.py test_lessonfile".
  • There is still something wrong because we have to disable the test to run debuild.
  • Distribute solfege/tests/lib/* and solfege/test/include/*.

How do you download this? The link takes you to a site in Italian, and seems to be about the X-wrapper rather than the music program!

Click on the "Download" link above, click on "I agree" at the bottom of the page, and the save file dialog box should pop up.

More specifically: where it says "Accetti queste condizioni?" click on the "Accetto" check box.

Maybe it's better to link to the original site:

My usual practice is to point to the website for the portable wrapper, but point to the official website in the synopsis, which I have done in this case as well.
