Synopsis: PStart is a small program launcher that sits in the system tray. You can define a hierarchical list of menus for launching applications and documents, much like the Windows "Start" menu. Unlike other program launchers, PStart automatically uses relative paths when adding applications and documents, so portability is automatically preserved when changing drive letters as long as the applications and documents are located in the same drive as PStart.
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies:
How to extract: Download the installer and install using the "Portable setup" option to a folder of your choice. Note that you have to install using the "Portable setup" option because the final executable installed is different. If you install using the "Local setup" option, you will get an executable that writes to the user profile folder and does not use relative paths. Launch the program by double-clicking PStart.exe.

Additional notes from the author (Jens Gruschel): "The installer has a combo box with all removable drives listed. But if you click the [Next] button, you can select any folder you want, so there is no need to copy the file afterwards (which you can do of course). I added this combo box, because I thought that most people would install it to a USB stick (in fact I wrote the program because I wanted such a tool for my USB stick). But since I also like programs located on my D: drive, I didn't want to limit it to removable drives."

Synopsis: Open Menu+ is a program launcher with a quick search feature for rapidly locating the application or file you need. You configure the base folders where all your portable apps/docs are kept, and the launcher will let you navigate through all the subfolders and launch apps/docs as desired, while automatically remembering the most recent apps/docs that you have launched.

How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and install to a drive or folder of your choice. This will create autorun.inf and three subfolders: OpenMenu+, PortableApps and Documents. The application files are located in the OpenMenu+ subfolder. Launch OpenMenuPlus.exe.
  2. Select Computer, OpenMenu+ Settings. Under Paths, Programs Paths, change the path to indicate where you normally store your portable apps.
