Technical information about image files

Does anybody know a program that does the same as MediaInfo but for image files (jpg, bmp, png, gif, etc.)?
I would need something (ideal would be in a tooltip like MediaInfo or a menu in the Windows context menu) that shows the selected image file information (size, color-depth, format, etc.).
I have tested ShellPicture (by Babex) but I am allergic to shareware developers (that, in general) who UPX unknown stuff into .exe/.dll files, so I stopped using it.
Suggestions are welcome

Is this portable?

Thanks bassiliin, very nice tool, but let's say that ExifTool (hence the name) is primarily focusing on the metadata part (90%) and marginally (10%) on the remaining info which I am actually more interested in.
Additionally, the readings for some non-Exif data is not fully reliable, for example images in RGB/A (alpha channel) 32 bits are reported by ExifTool as 8 bit...
So, again many thanks for your recommendation, but in this particular case I prefer to continue searching... If you (or anybody else) has any other suggestion I am more than happy to follow it.
BTW, it would be great if also the .ico format would be supported.
Have a good day

No, indeed it does not sound like a feature belonging to a truly portable application, but just like in the case of MediaInfo (which is also present here on Portable Freeware) I believe that a specific user would compromise on the portability front if these are the features that he/she is looking for.
Thanks to infimum for pointing that out and for giving me the opportunity to clarify that I would not mind to have to compromise if I would find an application (also not fully portable) which does what I need.

Amazing tool to discover all details about JPEGs, thanks buddy
I'll be happy to hear other suggestions too... Possibly 1 app that supports the following formats (in this order of importance): png, bmp, ico, jpg, gif... any additional format will be a plus, but I would already be very happy with the listed ones.
The details that I am really interested to know (about individual/batch image file/s) are:
Designation: A random value example <<-- Notes
Dimensions: 32x32
Pixel depth: 32 Bits per pixel <<-- Also designated as "bpp" or "color depth" or "bit depth"
Colors: RGB with Alpha Channel <<-- Also designated as RGB/A
Any additional detail will be a plus, but I would already be very happy with the listed ones.
Thanks again for your help

Not a tooltip integrated into the OS, but IrfanView has all this type of stuff configurable in it's thumbnail view.

No, it's not. Writes to the registry.

I second Irfanview too. Open the image and press "i" - without the quotes of course
Alternatively, you can use
i_view32.exe c:\test.jpg /info=c:\test.txt
which writes image info to file. Probably it's not what you're after but perhaps gives you some hints.

lautrepay you are the man!!!
Great tip.... Exactly what I was looking for (even more actually)... This shell extension supports all the image formats that I am working with!
Sorry for the Irfanview fans but this round was definitely won by a single XnView dll file.
Thanks again to all participants to this thread

Hi lautrepay,
Since you are apparently using XnView Shell Extension too I wanted to ask you if you also noticed that pretty often (randomly) the rotate/flip command fails to actually rotate/flip images.
At least on my system (XP Pro SP3) that is happening with all formats.
Thanks

Hi Spicydog,
In my Vista 64 SP2 everything works fine. I tested several files and several different formats, and on read-only files too.
I can rotate and flip all the files that XnView is able to write.
I just can't use that functions in xcf (the Gimp native format) files because XnView can't write them, but I still can preview and convert those ones.
But I repeat my tests in my sister's laptop with XP SP3 and the erratic behaviour of the extension is exactly how you describe (and I wasn't able to change the language too).
Tomorrow I will download and install the last beta of XnView to see if the errors in XP are fixed.
(Sorry for my english)

Hi lautrepay,
Your English is better than mine
Thanks (also to your sister) for taking the time to carry out the rotate/flip tests... Should you find a solution (for XP SP3) please PM me the details (or post them here).
Have a good day
